Obituary
BARTH, Karin…..
With heavy hearts, the family of Karin H. Barth announces her sudden, peaceful passing in her 84th year, at Victoria Hospital on Thursday, March 17, 2022. Karin H. Steckling was born on June 14, 1938 in Berlin, Germany.
Karin enjoyed every part of life, but most important to her was family. She was loved and will be remembered by the many lives she touched.
Beloved mother of Douglas (Alexandra) Barth and Byron (the late Stasyi 2020) Barth. Proud grandmother of Saraya, Benjamin, Isabelle, Evan and Alayna. Lovingly remembered by her brothers (the late Siegfried 1991), Gerhard and Christian. Karin will also be fondly remembered by nieces and nephews, as well as her numerous close friends.
Karin loved to cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends with her excellent dishes. She also loved to travel to Europe, North and Latin America, but especially throughout Canada. With all her travels and deep roots to Germany she always considered Canada home and loved Eastern Canada and her happy place, Ipperwash beach, Ontario.
She was extremely fond of the theatre and classical music, and during her retirement enjoyed volunteering at The Grand Theatre, and Centennial Hall for the London Symphony.
She also enjoyed volunteering at the Boys and Girls club, the library and church. She cherished the many years she taught Saturday mornings at the German language school.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at First-St. Andrew’s United Church, 350 Queens Ave, London, on Saturday April 9 at 2pm. with a reception following the service. Masks to be worn in the sanctuary. Arrangements entrusted with A. Millard George Funeral Home, 519-433-5184. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com

It was with sadness that I learned of Karin’ sudden passing. She was a wonderful cook, always interested in the community and so enjoyed volunteering in a number of places. The Boys & Girls Club will certainly miss her and her cooking skills. She will be missed by many people for the her giving spirit and many kindnesses. Rest well, Karin.
Sorry to hear of Karin’s passing. My memories are of a lovely lady who was always welcoming. My thoughts are with her family.
Karin was a valued member of our First-Saint Andrew’s United Church Women. We remember her fondly for her sensible, grounded wisdom in discussions and her readiness to help. Her humour was deft and to the point. Many UCW members, including Karin, also attend Thursday morning Bible Study. I personally have the fond memory of Karin, in exasperated wonderment saying to me,“do you have to pluck this story like a butchered chicken – just let it be a Bible story.” Karin always told it as she saw it. We will miss her warm candour and insight. Respectfully submitted on behalf of the FSA UCW Executive, by Nancy Quinn.
From the Grand Theatre family – our deepest condolences to Karin’s family and friends. We will hold fond memories of her passion for the Grand with us for years to come. Sending our best to all, Suzanne (on behalf of the Grand Theatre family).
I have so many good memories of the time when I worked with Karin at the German Language School. She was always willing to lend a helping hand. I want to extend my sympathies for the entire family for this loss.

To Karin’s family: I am so very sorry for the sudden loss of your mother, grandmother and sister. Karin visited our home on Saltspring Island many years ago and since then, we regularly corresponded by e-mail. I will miss her inspirational, often funny messages. Rest in peace, dear Karin.
