Obituary
LATTANZIO, Ettore…
Completing his journey on earth, Ettore Lattanzio, aged 85, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, on Sunday, February 27, 2022, safe in the arms of Jesus, his Savior and Lord. Cherished husband of Marlene (nee Jukes), his wife of 59 years, loving father of Kent (Giovanna) and Janna Rousom (David), proud grandfather of Jordan, Alex, Elena, Lucas and Marcus, and treasured brother to Gloria Lattanzio.
We were blessed to live with a gentle man who was the ultimate ‘gentleman’. There was never a dull moment with him. An engaging storyteller and infamous prankster whose strong faith guided his life. His love of Jesus, family, music, good food, great espresso and Italy, his homeland, endeared him to many. His kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity enriched those around him. He was a concert accordionist and a gifted teacher. He made everyone feel special and was everyone’s greatest fan. He will forever be remembered and epitomized as a warm, sensitive and loving man.

Ettore will always be present in you Marlene, and his children. We grief with you at this time but know we will meet again one day. No doubt Ettore will be welcoming us with ‘his accordion’
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you grieve and yet celebrate the wonderful man that Ettore was! We will always remember his gentle story telling way!!! Love to you all!!!
Dear Ettore, gentleman, gentle soul, my friend, my confidante, my fan, I am so very sad that you have shuffled off this mortal coil. But, in truth you are with us yet. In your wake you have left us so many vivid memories – our sojourn to Italy in ‘76 springs to mind. Wasn’t that a time? Remember my first (and only) experience with eating tripe? You never let me forget that.
You influenced so many during your brief stay with us – family, friends and former colleagues, not to mention the countless students who benefited from your skills and patience.
I am so pleased that I was able to enjoy a conversation with you and Marlene recently. I could tell that you were not well, but as always, trouper-like, you pushed through it admirably.
I miss you, old friend; you have passed on, but not out of my heart and I will forever harbour the memory of your bright and charming smile.
Arrivaderci, amico mio.
John

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Zio Ettore. So many beautiful memories shared together, never forgotten. Wishing you comfort and strength at this time – Marlene, Kent, Janna, Gloria and families. Much love, Sara, Robert, Alex, Nicolas, Theodore, Anneliese and Sebastian.
To the man i affectionately called “Dad#2”…. You welcomed me into the family ever so easily Equipped with a large pot of “Pasta fagoli “ And Always a mischievous sparkle in those eyeballs…that held many many stories. You made me laugh Made me think And Showed me how to continue believe even when suffering seemed to take precedent!!! You cared for me as one of your own And Cherished me like my own dad! Your love for your family (both blood and adopted) was inspiring. You love for your sweet bride was apparent… And The love and admiration you showed of your children was quite beautiful . II always found great humor in how you responded to your daughters stern medical advice ….trusting largely in her medical recommendations Than that of medical teams! You raised great humans!! I’m 100% sure Jesus is so excited to have you home! As we are that your spiritual body is now where is should be… In peace We’ll just selfishly miss you! Please say hello to everyone up there for us… I’m sure they’ll be knocking at your door to come out with your accordion And wonderful legacy of stories.. Enjoy those streets of gold And All the deep Conversations with god As you stroll effortlessly through his gardens. Miss you …. Lisa Jayne
My sympathy to the Lattanzio family on the passing of Ettore. I will always remember Ettore for his long and enduring friendship with our family. There are many fond stories of him that are recounted frequently. Although it has been many years since I’d last seen him, I can add my agreement to how others have lovingly described him. He did seem to care deeply about others and that was a fine and rare trait.
Ettore was a great music teacher. I spent many years studying under him and even spent some weekends at his house in St. Thomas for extra study.
Our love & condolences to you & your family Marlene. Our friendship started many decades ago when our husbands attended Emmanuel Bible College together. God has been faithful through these many years and He will see you through these days too. May you know His comfort, peace & guidance. Our love, & prayers are with you all.
We are saddened by the passing of Ettore. For so many years, he shared our summers at Grey Owl Lake. We know how he loved the cottage and thank him and Marlene for the many happy memories created there. In looking back, we see again Howard and Nina and Karen and Diane as they grew up sharing that special place. Thank you Ettore for adding your warmth to those sunny days.
So sad to hear of the passing of Ettore. A wonderful man who delighted everyone. Many wonderful memories of stories at the cottage and a great musical connection. He always had such a way of making everyone one feel that they were not only special but great at whatever they were doing. He will be missed but his memory will live on.
Our thoughts are with Marlene and family. Sending you many hugs.
Marlene, please accept the sincerest condolences from my entire family. Ettore was a wonderful friend and colleague. He was one of a kind as a friend and a true artist as a teacher. We will all miss him.
I had Mr Lattanzio as an accordion teacher many years ago in Belleville. So sorry to hear of his passing. May he Rest In Peace.
My condolences on this late date for a man whom I have fond childhood memories of. Ettore taught me how to play accordion when he had his studio in Belleville Ontario. He was a wonderful teacher as well as being fun. For some reason his name has been in my mind lately and I wondered where he had moved to. I don’t know if I ever knew where he went after the building burned where I took my lessons. I was probably only about 7 or 8 years old. I’m glad to read of a life well lived.
