Obituary
McKEE, Alice Lorene…
Passed away on August 20, 2021 at Victoria Hospital, London in her 98th year. Our mother was a strong and determined woman who was able to remain at her home until a recent fall ended her independence. Beloved wife of the late William S. J. McKee (2010). They were happily married 68 years. Born January 25, 1924 to the late Anne and Charles Deeley. Predeceased by her sister Sharlane Gordon. Much loved mother to Mary Anne Mills and Bill McKee. Loving grandmother to Sean (deceased), Kerri, Annie, and Ian. Great grandmother to Victoria, Savanna, Ciera, Tristian, Kaitlyn, Cameron, Ethan, Nicolas, Emily, Brandon, Mikayla and Amelia. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Mom loved all of us. Alice had many interesting jobs over the years but her most fulfilling was serving as Director of Volunteers at CPRI for more than 15 years. It was in this capacity that mom met three of her closest friends: Karen, Jackie and Brenda. Our parents loved to travel and visited Europe many times, the Caribbean, Mexico, all of Canada and most of the U.S. Following retirement Mom & Dad spend the winters in Florida and met people from all over the world who would remain good friends until their passing. Mom was a beautiful woman with the most beautiful soul. She will be missed. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are welcomed for visiting on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 1-3pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. Please call the funeral home between 9am-5pm (519-433-5184) to reserve your spot for the visitation. As per the directive of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, a limited number of people can attend. All those attending are required to wear masks and follow COVID-19 protocols. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London to follow. In memory of Alice donations may be made to the Metropolitan United Church; Radio Broadcast, 468 Wellington Street, London, ON N6A 3P8 would be greatly appreciated by the family. To the family, I spent a lot of time with Alice. We would sit and have coffee before I could start working …She loved her family and talked about everyone nieces nephews cousins …if you were in her life she loved you all her heart was always in her eyes as she told little stories about you…she was one amazing lady even when thing started to get harder she would insist on doing it her way, even her cat Lady knew her and loved her just the way she was…..I’m going to miss you so much my dear friend…..
Dear Mary-Ann, Bill and Family: The passing of dear Alice is a severe blow to all of us. She fought the good fight. Your beautiful Obituary captures her life SO well. Thank you for mentioning us. We will miss her
lovely self, her caring ways, her remarkable memory and particularly her presence amongst us. I am leaving for vacation early
Monday and so am very sorry not to be able to be there to say a very
fond farewell. Deep sympathies in your loss – Jackie (Farquhar)
Bill, our deepest condolences to you and your family at this difficult time. You were a wonderful support for your mom and we are sure your love and efforts were so appreciated by your mom. She was a lovely lady. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Aunt Alice was one of the kindest, most caring woman, I have ever been fortunate enough to know. She shared many interesting stories about her life, with me. Her memory was amazing. We easily chatted on the phone for more than an hour. She also loved to get all dressed up and go out for lunch. I will miss all that.
Aunt Alice and Uncle Bill were very close. They really lived life to the fullest.
She always looked forward to her daily visits with her son Bill. They really enjoyed each other.
We will all miss her. warmest regards, Debi and Jaap
I was very sorry to hear of Alice’s passing. My parents, Ken and June Carswell really enjoyed Alice and Bill’s friendship as part of the tightly knit family of Bell employees way back when! I remember Alice as a very fine person, full of life and vitality! My thoughts are with the family at this time of loss.
Sincerely,
Brian Carswell (and siblings Paul, Karen and Janet)
