Obituary
WALTERS, Trueman…
It’s with great sadness we announce the passing of a wonderful Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and even Great-Great-Grandfather. E. Trueman Walters, in his 92nd year, passed away on Sunday, July 18th, 2021. Beloved husband to the late Audrie (2005). He was an incredible father to Verne (Jane), Darcy (Sue), Debbie (Ron), and Pam (Kirk). Also, the fun-loving Grandfather to Michelle (Rob), Jason (Siosiana), Casey (Ben), Kelly (Dan), Brad, Brent, Kyle (Tiffany), Mallory (Sam), and Great-Grandfather to Taylor, Morgan, Connor, Dylan, Katherine, Gavin, Chloe, Aaron, Tripp, Beau, Myles and Violet and Great-Great-Grandfather to Hayze.
Trueman touched so many people’s lives during his 65 years in the theatre business. He started his career at the age of 13 as an usher at the Patricia Theatre in London, where he met his future wife, Audrie. From there, Trueman managed the Seneca Theatre in Niagara Falls, the Regent Theatre in Oshawa, the Grand Theatre in Kingston and the Mustang Drive-In in Kingston. In 1972, it was full circle back to London to the Mustang Drive-In theatre. After 41 years at the Mustang Drive-In, at the age of 83, it was time to retire. Trueman was blessed with a wonderful family and Drive-In family. Oh, the stories he could tell and the laughter that was shared. For Trueman this was not a job, it was his life, we believe that’s what kept him so young at heart.
As the curtain closes for Trueman, the “show must go on”, and he will meet Audrie, “Somewhere in Time.” And as many of us heard that closing message “Thank you for calling”.
We are so grateful for the staff at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy for their compassionate care for Trueman during his time there, and for taking such great care of his family during his final days, as well as for welcoming Buddy. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at the Mustang Drive in at future date in September, and will be announced. Future interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London. In memory of Trueman, donations may be made to the Humane Society of London & Middlesex, 624 Clarke Road, London, ON N5V 3K5. Arrangements entrusted with A. Millard George Funeral Home, 519-433-5184. We are sorry to hear of the passing of your father, grandfather and great grandfather. The obituary was a wonderful tribute to Truman. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Kare & Rob xo
So sorry to hear of your loss. Trueman was one in a million. Such a kind, funny compassionate man. Your family was like a second family to me and I will never forget all of those years at the drive-in. Trueman was a big part of so many lives. I will never forget the kindness he showed to me and so many others.
My sincere condolences to the extended Truman Family. I am now 65 years old but I still remember the many formative years working at the Mustang Drivein Theatre on Wilton Grove Road. Truman was always great to be around and helped many young people start out in their working careers and forming their lives. We would share many laughs out by the box office, or some of the late night antics of some of the people in the back rows at the theater! May God bless you and your family in these coming days as you mourn your loss.

We are so very sorry to hear of Truman’s passing…or as we have always known him to be “Mr. Walters”. He was such a kind, gentle sole that will be sorely missed by everyone. We have such fond memories of him, from the movie theaters, and parties and to sitting on the porch with our Dad on Maitland St., sharing a “small smash”. He was a huge part of our childhood, we will always keep his memory close to our hearts. Love to all, April, Shanna and families xo
To the Walters Family I was sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. I had the privilege of working with your Mom at Simpson’s and through her I was lucky enough to meet your Dad. He was so kind and loving, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time. Cherish your wonderful memories that will always be in your heart.
Debbie and Paul Walmsley
When we were first in business in 1979 Trueman would come in to buy material for the drive-in. We always enjoyed his pleasant good humour and warm personality. He was a special person fondly remembered. Our condolences to his family on your loss.

In reading of Walter’s passing, l reflect back on many many fond memories of him, and, of course You, his family, while working at Kingston’s Grand Theatre as well as the Mustang Drive -In. l respected him as a very good friend and ,as my boss. l often wondered how he was fulfilling his life, so l was happy to see posted that he had a loving family that He always supported. l would love to hear from You, if it’s at all possible at the above e-mail address. Your in my heart at this time. Sincerely, Moe Peters.
