VANDERVECHT, Agnes Helena…..

Peacefully surrounded by her family, the Lord called Agnes Helena VanderVecht into His embrace on

Thursday July 1^st, 2021 at Sakura House, after a courageous battle of four and half years with cancer.

Beloved daughter of Helena VanderVecht, Aylmer, Ontario,and  predeceased  father, Homer VanderVecht (January 2004). Sister to Wilma (Jasper) Sinke, Ingersoll, Ontario, Betty (Bernie) Bakker, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Judy (Harry) Benjamins, Ingersoll, Ontario, and Homer (Brenda) VanderVecht, Ingersoll, Ontario. Aunt to many nephews, nieces and their families in Ontario, Manitoba, and West Australia. Her many close friends were her family as well.   Agnes’ family and friends were her heart.

Agnes was born in Woodstock, Ontario on April 15, 1959.  After completing her studies, Agnes enjoyed a long career as a Health Information Management Professional. She received a Project Management Certificate in Woodstock and worked at Woodstock General  Hospital  for 11 years. She then moved to London, working at Victoria Hospital and part time at University Hospital for 20 years. Here she received her Bachelor of Arts and helped develop Certified Clinical Document (Improvement) Specialist program. She was passionate and took great pride in her work, going above and beyond in her endeavors. A bonus of her career were the many wonderful co-workers who became and stayed friends throughout the years.  She was well respected in her position and as a person.

Throughout her life, Agnes maintained deep friendships with many different people she met through the various clubs she was involved with. These activities included cooking, dining club, book club, golfing, knitting, dog sledding, canoe trips, travelling, and zentangle art work. She always looked forward to a “new adventure” in life.   She was involved in her church, Talbot Street Church, London,  in different offices.  She will be remembered for her compassionate heart toward the people she met and helped. 

Agnes and her  family gratefully acknowledge the compassionate care of all the nurses  and PSWs from Care Partners, Palliative care physician Dr. Sondhi and all those at VON Sakura House. 

Thank you to the Ovarian Cancer Support group at Wellspring London Region that Agnes had attended and embraced the last few years.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 6^th at A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London  from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.  Please call the funeral home between 9am-5pm (519-433-5184) to reserve your spot for the visitation. As per the directive of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, a limited number of people can attend. All those attending the funeral home are required to wear masks and follow COVID-19 protocols. Funeral service will take place Wednesday, July 7 at Talbot Street Church, 513 Talbot Street, London at 11:00 a.m.. Pastor Steve Dozeman and Pastor Dan Tigchelaar officiating.  Preregistration is required. A livestream of the service will be available on Talbot Street Church website.

Cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest in Alymer Cemetery with her Father at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be given to: Translation Ovarian Cancer Research Group or Wellspring London and Region.

What is your only comfort in life and death?

That I am not my own,

But belong with body and soul,

Both in life and in death,

To my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ.
