Obituary
PIETERMAN, Jack…..
“That I am not my own,
but belong with body and soul, both in life and in death,
to my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ.” Lord’s Day 1, Heidelberg Catechism
In the early morning of May 20, 2021, our Lord God and Heavenly Father gave Jack Pieterman an early birthday present and called him home to be with Him. Three days before his 74th birthday, God gathered Jack in His arms and carried His faithful servant home to heaven. After spending over a month in University Hospital due to COVID-19, Jack passed away peacefully with his wife Rennie and sons Art and Chad at his side. He loved and was loved by his wife Rennie Pieterman (Boersema) for over 53 years and was a beloved father to Art and Lisa Pieterman, Shane and Becky Pieterman, Tammi and Henry Buist and Chad and Erin Pieterman. He was a loved and cherished Grandpa or Poppa to his 18 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Art and Grace (Wildeboer) Pieterman, his parents-in-law Marten and Elly (Bos) Boersema, his Uncles and Aunts whom he loved dearly, Oom Fred and Tante Anna Wildeboer and Oom Henk and Tante Janny Wildeboer. He will be very much missed by his siblings Ena and Joe Boersema, Nell and Dale Thomas, Alice and Dale Ewing, Marian and Sam Okkema and Derk and Annette Pieterman and by his siblings-in-law, Julie Lindhout, John and Jenny Boersema, Doug Boersema, Ralph and Lucille Boersema, Attie and Henry Sandink, Jack Boersema, Janice and Hank VanDam, Bob and Nancy Boersema, Theresa and Talbot Bergsma, Marcia and Ron Vandenbos, Nick Boersema, and sister-in-law Susan Koomans, and a special cousin in Holland, Lammieke Wildeboer, as well as countless nephews and nieces. He will be missed by his church family at Pilgrim Canadian Reformed Church of London where he and his wife were members for 49 years, and by many others due to his strong passion for reformed education. This passion had a positive and powerful impact on the local reformed school communities, (Covenant Christian School and Providence Reformed Collegiate) as well as the Covenant Canadian Reformed Teacher’s College in Hamilton.
Jack was a plumber by trade, although he was really a Jack-of-all-trades. Together with his Wildeboer uncles, he founded the Practical Plumbing Company in 1981. After retiring several years ago, Jack had to find a new hobby to fill his days, and he found it at the Mission Thrift Store. He was on the steering committee when the store began, and also spent many hours over the next few years at the store, picking up donations and generally being the fix-it guy as the property manager. He will be dearly missed by the staff and volunteers at the store.
Family and friends will be received at the Pilgrim Canadian Reformed Church, 266 High Street, London on Monday, May 24, 2021, from 1-4 and from 7-9 pm. Due to capacity restrictions please schedule your time through the sign-up link below, or by calling Art at 519-639-1976.
A private family Graveside Service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m., which will be held at Pilgrim Canadian Reformed Church with Reverend A. Witten officiating. The Memorial Service will be livestreamed, and you can find the link on the funeral home website under events.

Having grown up in London I have lots of memories of Mr. Pieterman. But what really stood out to me is how supportive both Jack and Rennie were when I stepped into the role of principal in London at 25 years old. I’m not sure I knew what I was getting into and I’m sure my work left something to be desired. However, you were always so supportive and encouraging as I was learning the ropes. Such support was greatly appreciated! When I left London to head out West, I received a thank you book from all the parents and one additional couple – Jack and Rennie Pieterman. Your passion for Reformed Education and support for me was a huge blessing for me in my life. You will be missed.
We are so sorry for your loss but heaven gains a faithful servant. May our Heavenly Father strengthened all of you. God Bless
With Christian love, Adrian and Ineke Goossen

Dear Rennie and family,
My sincere condolences to you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
The news of Jack’s passing was a real shock. Although we have not seen much of each other in the last twelve years since we moved away, Jack and Rennie were a big part of our lives for the 31 years before that. We raised our children together, we worked together in church and school, and socialized together. I pray that the Lord gives your family strength and healing. May His infinite blessings comfort you at your darkest hour. With love and affection Thea H., Burlington ON
Our deepest condolences to Rennie and family on the loss of Jack. It was a pleasure dealing with Jack as a friend & supplier when he started his business in 1981. Jack was always fair and supportive in his business and always made time to discuss family.
Jack and Rennie visited us at our boat on Lake Huron, and after a day on the lake, they also bought a boat . Jack laughed and reminded me that day cost him a lot of money. They enjoyed boating and then going on to RV trailers. He will be missed
Rest In Peace my friend
Rob & Nancy Cordell

Shane, Becky and family, Chad, Erin and family, our sincere condolences for the passing of you Father and Grandfather.
Dear Rennie, Chad and Art,
What a shock to read of Jack’s young death in the LFP due to COVID. Jack was always my plumber when I had my house on Boler Rd. He was honest, fair and lived with integrity. Sympathy to all of you. Joyce
The Lord gave us the opportunity to meet Jack and know a little bit of his passion for the Lord. The first time I met him was in 2013 during a lecture I shared in Cornestone Canadian Reformed Church in Hamilton, where I was speaking about the Christian school in Brazil supported by Cornestone Board on Mission Aid (John Calvin Christian School). The event was oppened for members from everywhere, and I was suprised to hear that a couple had droven about three hours to watch that presentation on part of the mission work. Years later, in 2016, Jack and Rennie were involved in a mission trip to Brazil to help in building a library for the school. They worked hard and it was a blessing to know them better.
In January 2019, my family and I was blessed to visit Canada and they were very important in providing all the clothes and shoes we needed to endure the Canadian winter. For sure, we were scheduled to visit them in London, but the Lord prevented us by a storm to see them again. They said to us that it was wisest to postpone our visit to another period, as they wouldn´t like to live with the news that something happened to us while trying to visit them!
The Lord is in control of everything and He used Jack to share his love for Him in so many ways with different people. We are thankful to the Lord for such opportunity we had to know him, even for a bit of time. We pray that the Lord will comfort all the family, specially sister Rennie and their children. Our prayers are in your favor. Barbosa´s family: Elias and Deliane and the children: Danielle, Samara and Matias.
Dear Rennie and Family. Our Deepest Condolences to you and your family.
May the Lord be with you in the days ahead and give you comfort. Ed and Wilma Salomons
Rennie, we are so sorry to hear about Jack, you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

I am a volunteer at the Mission Store. Altho’ I didn’t know Jack well, He was one of the kindest, gentlest men that I have ever had the privilege to know. It is with sorrow & a heavy heart that I sent much love and condolences to Rennie and their families. May God grant you His peace.
Sorry to hear about Jack . Often think about you but kind of lost track of you after you started the business in Hyde Park .Stopped in one day and there was another business there . When I was out at the health food store I asked one day and they told me that you were in Lambeth . Often think of Joe and Ena but that is going back a few years . Your whole family are in our prayers at this difficult time .
Sorry to hear about Jack . Thinking about you all at this difficult time . Often think about you and Jack but after you moved and started the business in Hyde Park kind of lost track of the family . Stopped in one day and there was a new business there . Was out at Elly store one day and they said that you were living in Lambeth.
We loved Jack very much and he was always such a pleasure to talk to.
Rennie, Art, Chad, Shane, Tammi and families, know that you are all in our prayers and may God be ever close to you and hold you all in His loving care.
I am so saddened by this and in shock. Jack would come in to visit me with Missy by his side…… she would run in to greet me and he would walk in with a big smile on his face. We would chat about anything and everything. I looked forward to those visits and he always put a smile on my face. He will be greatly missed. RIP
Sending love to his family during this difficult time.
We are sending our deepest sympathies, condolences and prayers for the family. So very sorry for your loss, he will be missed.
