Obituary
JACOBSEN, Carina….
With great sorrow, we wish to announce that Carina Tatjana Maria Jacobsen of London, in her 88th year, died peacefully at home with family by her side, on Friday, September 4, 2020.
Born in Tallinn, Estonia, she was the daughter of Hans-Joachim Koch and Tatiana von Poppen. She and her family fled the Soviet invasion of Estonia during WWII, residing first in Germany, and later immigrating to Canada in the 1950’s where she would meet and marry her dear Peter.
Beloved wife for over 60 years of Peter Jacobsen. Loving mother of Erik Jacobsen and his wife Birgit of London, and Anita Jacobsen of Stratford. Predeceased by her daughter Christina Mayhew (2002). Survived by her son-in-law Brent Mayhew and his wife Angela. Dear Oma of Nicolai and Tatiana Jacobsen, Ian and Paul Bennett and Peter and Robert Mayhew. Dear sister of Olaf von Ramm and his wife Barbara of North Carolina, Andreas Koch and his wife Uta of Munich, Germany.
Carina was a remarkable woman. Despite the upheaval of her early years, she and her husband Peter were able to build a happy and prosperous life. As well as raising 3 children, she completed a BA from Western University, where she would later work in the library system. In her spare time, she helped establish and support the family business, Parkway Gardens.
She loved languages and literature, theatre and music, family pets and wild creatures, swimming and travelling, dear friends and good food, but above all she loved her family, and cared selflessly for them. We will miss her always.
The family would like to thank Dr. Catherine Walsh, and Mary Wellman, Teri, Janfer, Janet, Yvette, and all the dedicated and caring staff at Medical Priorities who made it possible for Carina to be at home with her beloved Peter for these last difficult months of her life.
Cremation has taken place. Due to current COVID restrictions, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London.
