Peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, September 4, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospice, London, John Morton passed away in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of Evelina M. (Oropilla) Morton and the late Grace Morton. Loving father of Janis Morton and her husband Jim Mitchell of St. Thomas, the late David Morton (1996), Astriel Oropilla-Morton and Martin Oropilla Ibana-Morton both of London. Dear grandfather of Jason Stevenson of London. Special friend of Arnold Sandoval Ilustre of Spain. Predeceased by his parents Mungo and Grace Morton. John served in the Military from 1941-1946 Navy League Cadet, 1951-1953 RAF (Bomber Command), he was formerly a Millwright, Mechanical Engineer and Draftsman at Unifin and Kellogg’s. He was also a Workmaster Mason at Masonic Lodge # 22 St. John Kilmaranock (Scotland). He had a passion for his work as a Minister of Health and Long Term Care – Family Council Facilitator (LHIN 2). The family wishes to thank the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at Parkwood Hospital, the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice and the London Regional Cancer Program for all their care and compassion. A funeral service will take place on Friday, September 11, 2020 at A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, with visitation one hour prior. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery, London. Due to current restrictions the service will be by invitation only. All those attending the funeral home are required to wear a face mask. I was General Manager at Unifin during John’s tenure there in the Design Department in the 1970’s.
I remember John for his always friendly approach and greetings. We crossed paths a few times after he left Unifin but he never seemed to change.
