Obituary
ROCH, Therese….
Therese Marie Regina (Theresa) Roch of London, in her 94th year, passed away at her residence, on Friday, July 31, 2020.
Therese was born to the late Regina and Albain Dureault, on September 8, 1926, in Wolseley, Saskatchewan. She was one of the youngest of a very large family and grew up on the family farm. Therese and her sisters worked hard helping their parents run the farm during WWII when her brothers went out to war.
Therese then moved to Sudbury, Ontario, to work for her older sister, Antoinette Burke, at Burke’s Boarding House. It’s there she met and became the beloved wife of the late Joseph Roch (1998), who also moved East from Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba. They shared 49 wonderful years together before his passing.
Therese spent almost sixty years in Elliot Lake, Ontario, where, with Joe, she raised her family. She provided a loving and supportive home, which allowed her husband and children to flourish. For many years, she was the manager of Sidwell’s Jewelry Store and was well known and loved in the community.
Therese is survived by her four cherished children, Raymond Roch (Shelley) (Surrey, BC), Diane Nauss (Joel) (White Rock, BC), Armand Roch (Heather) (London, ON), and Alice Cornwall (Pat) (Mississauga, ON), and one sibling, Alice Bodson (Sudbury, ON).
Therese will also be fondly remembered as “Memere” by four grandchildren, Nathan, Devin (Emily), Michael (Meghan) and Adam (Roxanne), and four great grandchildren, Kingston, Sienna, Sloan and Ivee.
Therese will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Therese had compassion and empathy, and was able to make friends wherever she went. She always made people feel welcomed and would listen to anyone who wanted to talk to her. Her children’s friends called her “Mama Roch” and it was not uncommon for everyone to gather in the family backyard and socialize.
In her retirement years in Elliot Lake before moving to London, Therese was very active including many walks with friends, swimming, and could always be seen on Elliot Lake cross country skiing in her bright red jacket.
Therese spent her last five years at Chartwell’s Royalcliffe Retirement Residence, London, Ontario, where she continued to stay active, and as was her way, established many new friendships.
She will always be remembered for her love of family, reaching out by phone to all her family (immediate & extended) & friends, spunk, constant smile, and a second mother to many.
Cremation has taken place.
Friends are welcomed to join the Funeral Mass online at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at http://www.youtube.com/sgtvlondon . Interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery, London, next to her beloved husband, Joseph.

Raymond, Diane, Armand and Alice & families.
Danny & I are so very sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. She was an amazing lady and will be missed by many. Always enjoyed our time ‘catching up’ on the telephone. She was witty and always happy.
Our thoughts & prayers are with you during this very difficult time.
I had the privilege of getting to know Therese in her later years at Chartwell Royalcliffe. She spoke of her family often and with a great big smile on her face; she was so proud of you all. We will miss her dearly. My sincere condolences.
Loved her . Dearest aunt & god mother. Enjoyed a car trips together Called once or twice a week
I am so sad to hear of Therese’s passing. There are so many fun and fond memories of her while living in Elliot Lake. I can still vividly remember the summers in her back yard with all the girls on their lounge chairs tanning, the laughs with her and Joe, every evening her and mon taking their evening stroll and the times she and mom would cross country ski from her back yard. She sure left great memories with me that I will truly treasure forever.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. Therese was quite the character and had such a great love for life, always happy to be with family and friends… Brent and Mya
Only fond memories of a dear aunt. May your memories bring you comfort in the days ahead. I can only imagine the singing and dancing going on above.
Our sincere condolences to you Ray and your family on the loss of your Mom. Therese was a strong, active, kind and compassionate woman. If you were lucky you received her quick smile and a recounting of one of her little life’s adventures. She had time for all and lived life on her terms. Her memory brightens our day.
Thérèse Roch was a wonderful woman and most beloved friend. Together she and her husband Joe raised four extremely bright and athletically gifted children. A strong work ethic was instilled in each of their children. Thérèse was a second Mom to a few. The Roch home was filled with much love and laughter.
Thérèse loved watching hockey and baseball games on television. An extremely well organized lady, she was the Manager of Harper’s Jewellery Store which later became Sidwell Jewellers in Elliot Lake, Ontario. The Roch lawn was perfectly manicured and flower beds and indoor plants were all well tended by Thérèse. Family and friends were always welcomed in the Roch home. Thérèse formed many close friendships in Elliot Lake and later at Chartwell in London. The entire Moulin family embraced Thérèse into their family, and always included her in any family gatherings or excursions. A woman who always had a strong opinion on political affairs, Thérèse was never shy to express her opinion. We will always remember her many unique expressions.
Gone, but never forgotten. Thérèse remains in each of our hearts forever.

Sometimes it is hard not to wish for one more day, one more word, one more chance to say goodbye.
Our hearts and thoughts are with all of you during this time of grieving .
Theresa was a dear friend to my mom and her heart is broken. They spent every day together for the last 5 years and more so during these past months of isolation. They helped each other through each day and were always there for each other.
Theresa was a wonderful woman , full of strength and goodness. She will be missed.
Raymond, Diane, Armand, Alice

Therese was a great friend to Rita and I will always remember her infectious laughter. Deepest sympathy to the Roch family.
With love -the O’Hanleys
My heart and prayers are with all of the Roch family.
Mamma Roch was such a wonderful lady. She was such a calming influence in my otherwise topsy turvey upbringing. She told me my life will be good and to stick with it. As an adult she helped me through a difficult time without judgement or criticism. She listened and allowed me to be heard. Her honesty was refreshing and welcomed.
Thank you to her family for sharing her with us.
Mrs. Therese Roch. The best neighbour a family could ever ask for. We were so lucky to have Theresa as a neighbour, for about 60 years ( first 20 years my grandparents and the last 40 years my parents lived next door ) Loved her wit, her love of sports and no nonsense approach on any subject. Many fond memories. Condolences to all the Family. Thankful that she was a part of our lives in Elliot Lake for so many wonderful years.
We both like to express our condolences to the family.
Rest in peace aunt Teresa
Dear family,
thinking of you today.!
praying the rosary for Auntie.
Aunt Therese was such a wonderful, kind and down to earth person. Although we didn’t get a lot of time with these aunts, we did get a trip to Elliot Lake when teenagers and got to spend some time there and so grateful that we had a trip to see her in 2015. Also the trips she made back to Wolseley were another chance to get to know her. She so much reminds me of Aunt Irene….beautiful sisters reunited along with the others. She always had time to chat with us young ones when she came to visit. I know I will miss her….and the odd phone calls we recently had. May you rest in the arm of Jesus and be happy dear Aunt Therese! 🙂
Sending hugs to all of you?? such a beautiful Service for Aunt Therese, a great tribute to her, she will be so missed, such a wonderful lady! I feel she would be so proud of all you with the beautiful celebration of her life In these trying times. May she Rest In Peace ?? as she joins Uncle Joe and the many family that are waiting to greet her into heaven . ??
My sympathies to Aunt Thérèse’s family.
I am so glad that I talked to her a few days before her passing. She still had a chuckle or two & some kind words for me. We had many phone visits. Cherish your memories.
Sincere sympathy to all of dear Aunt Therese’s family. Thank you for sharing her funeral mass online and allowing us to pray with you. May she rest in peace and joy with all the relatives who have passed before her.
She was my first husband, Robbie Dureault’s God Mother. I will miss the phone calls we had, usually every year around Christmas time and sometimes in Sept for our birthdays a week apart.

It felt so good to be with you online for the celebration of your mom’s wonderful life. So much peace and dignity. Thank you for making this possible. As a song from the group MercyMe says” “I Can Only Imagine” how proud both your parents were to witness from above this truly moving gathering. Raymond, your sharing captured so well the essence of your mom’s soul. I am indeed very privileged and blessed to have had aunt Thérèse and uncle Joe as my godparents. Gratitude. God bless.
