Obituary
WRIGHT, Ansel V….
June 10, 2020, the Lord called Ansel Vivian Wright, home in his 98th year. Loving father of Dorrett Darling (Jamaica), Daphne and son-in-law, John Martin (Vancouver), Heather (London) and Susan (Toronto). Cherished grand-dad and great-grandfather. Friend to your old buddy, Fiddler, the Cat. Predeceased by his siblings and his son, Owen. A family service has taken place. Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, London.
Dad, your journey began at 19 leaving Jamaica, taking you to the USA, England and settling in Canada, a country you loved. We appreciate your loving care in raising us. We remember how well you treated your patients in your 33 year career as an orderly at VH South Street and how, in turn, they remembered you.
Dad, you were a believer in God, a husband and father, a story-teller and an adventurer. We remember how at 95 you were still shovelling snow and raking leaves. You so enjoyed your weekly drives to see the shoreline at Port Stanley and to stop and have orangeade and fries at Mackies and an ice cream cone at Shaw’s.
We wish to remember Pastor Bruce Redding and your church family at Berean Baptist and we thank everyone for their prayers. Thank you to Reverend Canon Greg Smith. Special thanks to Dr. Steven Goldie, the EDITH Team of Dr. Kirk Hamilton, Dr. Ed Stack and Dr. Jill, VON Nurses Rachel, Shaquilla, Nancy, Derek, Jane, Liz, and Cody, E-Shift care providers Henry and Juan and the SWLIN, especially Ruby. Your care and attention to our father and our family made dad’s journey home peaceful.
Till we meet again dad, all of our love.

Our deepest sympathies to the family. Mr. Wright was a kind and caring neighbour and a friend to all….A good man.
I worked on Orthopedics at South St. 1970 and knew your dad. Wonderful man.Great fun.
My condolences.
Daphne and family I am so sorry to hear about Ansels passing. He was a wonderful person. The last time I saw him was at a bingo session in St Thomas with his friend. He remembered me and my sister as Cathys daughters. He knew all my siblings and our life story.
A great man and a gentle loving soul. I loved his knowledge and I am again so sorry for your loss. This wonderful man left his mark in this world. Bless you all.
We will miss your stories and quick wit Ansel. You were part of my family for many cherished years. My mother has described you as a true gentleman from a past – definitely true.
At Christmas 2018, Ansel called me to inquire about my husband Ken, who had passed the year before. But Ancel had not been aware of this. So, our conversation revolved around our days at Vic. Both Ken and I had been coworkers of his and always enjoyed time spent with him, whether professionally or socially. He was a great guy. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. My thoughts are with you at his sad time.
We send our love and condolences to Heather and her family. Your Dad was such a lovely man – we were pleased to have met him. A long and deep love leaves a great void. May God give you peace and comfort and grant Ansel eternal joy.
Dear Heather and Family,
My heart goes out to you at this sad time. I know how much you loved and cared for him.
Gloria
Dear Heather and all your family,
I am sorry for your loss of your dad.
Although I did not know him, reading of him gives such a sense of a genuinely lively life. I trust that energy will hold you at this especially sad time. Warmest hugs. Kate
I loved your Dad??
Sending my sincere condolences.
My condolences Daphne, Heather, Susan and family. Your dad was one of the best men I’ve known. It was an honour to know him. You are in my thoughts.
Dear Heather and family. Sorry for the loss of your Dad. It was an honour to have known him and work with him over the years at Victoria Hospital. A caring man with a great “bass” voice, who always found humour and compassion with patients and staff. “God Speed”, Ansel.
Heather, I am so sorry to hear that your dear Dad has passed. ??
You will miss him terribly!
Your Dad saw so much in his long life. I’m just sorry that it has ended at a time when you could not yet honour & celebrate him in a way that you might have hoped to.
Maybe we can do a little walk sometime soon, or meet at the grocery store.
Sending you my love & healing thoughts and prayers… XX ???? Dee
