Stan is fondly remembered by his niece Diane, and nephews Scott and Graham. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Canada and Latvia.
Stan was born in Russia on April 11th 1918, as a refugee of the 1st W.W. Stan and his family were able to return to their native Latvia soon after the war to a farm near the city of Livani. Uranium ore was discovered here in large amounts. Stan next went to Northern Quebec as a land surveyor.
Finally, Stan settled in London to work in 1966, helping to build highways 401 and 402 working for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. Upon his retirement in 1983 Stan continued to stay active at Western with courses such as Astronomy and the languages. He also attended Gold’s Gym regularly. Stan was an active member of the Lativan community here in London, and an outdoors man whose hobbies were fishing and gardening. My deepest sympathy to Stan`s family. Stanley is my grandpa`s brother. Many wonderful memories about meeting Stanley in 2000, he wrote letters in hand writing being over 100 years old and his keen mind and good sense of humor was endless. Stan`s eyes sparkled when he remembered the good times going on fishing trips with his friends. Stan always had a good advice on gardening issues as loving care for his garden filled him with joy. He was always informed about the latest political and economic issues in the world and in Latvia as well. Stanley was a kind and wonderful person. I and my family will keep the good memories in our hearts.
Uncle Stan was a kind and loving uncle. Remember fishing trips with him when I was a kid. He had a good sense of humour and was sharp and knowledgeable about world events right up to the end. He is missed and will be remembered.
