Obituary
MOORHEAD, Elsie …
Peacefully surrounded by family at home, on Sunday, December 29, 2019, Elsie Moorhead passed away in her 75th year. Beloved wife and best friend of Leonard Moorhead for 55 years. Devoted mother of David (Jill) Moorhead, Arlene (Liam) Maharaj and Julie (Steve) Kelly. Loving Nana of Nicholas, Emily, Benjamin, Wesley, Dawson, Paige and Noel. Dear sister of Ina (Wayne) Lawson, Noel (Irene) Laffin, Sheila (Mike) Fraser, Bobby (Nora) Laffin and Maud (Jim) Bingham. Elsie will be greatly missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law. Auntie Elsie will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Elsie will be fondly remembered by extended family and friends at home and in Northern Ireland. Predeceased by her parents James and Jean Laffin. Elsie was a hard worker over the years and was thankful to have had great co-workers who turned into life-long friends. She enjoyed gardening and spending time in her greenhouse, she loved to travel, knit and was often found cheering on the London Knights, but most of all her favourite thing was being with her grandkids. The Moorhead family wishes to extend their thanks to Dr. Sugimoto and the amazing nurses at LHSC Cancer Clinic and 7th floor, the palliative care team for keeping her comfortable at home, and a special thank you to Dr. Adam Mutsaers, for his above and beyond care for Elsie. The family will receive guests for visiting on Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 2-4 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, as well as one hour prior to the funeral service being held in the chapel on Monday, January 6, 2020 at 1 pm. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the London Regional Cancer Program, 747 Baseline Road East, London, ON N6C 2R6 or Metropolitan United Church “Unit 2000”, 468 Wellington Street, London, ON N6A 3P8. Sorry to hear of Elsie’s death. We have great memories of walking to Drumlough University every day and visiting one family with the other.
Playing in and out of the egg bushes on the Drumlough Rd, something the younger generation doesn’t know about. It was good to meet up with Elsie in Banbridge at the twelfth 2 years ago. We will be remembering you Leonard and your family in our prayers, that God will hold you in the palm of his hand over this sad time. Cousins Mabel and Irene
Arlene, We are so sorry to hear of your moms passing. I fondly remember meeting her at your birthday party. Throughout the years you have always shared stories about your many family excursions, and how she and your dad were always the kids number one fans at their special events. It was so easy for me to see how close you are and what an important role she played in your life, Liam’s and the kids. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.
Auntie Elsie was such a kind and loving woman. Always welcoming everyone and anyone into her house with open arms and plates of food. She was the salt of the earth, wanting to help whenever she could. I have so many fond memories of her from my childhood, all of them I will treasure.
Auntie Elsie, we are all better for having known you and loved you.
Rest easy xo
