Obituary
WELLS, Agnes …
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Agnes Wells (nee Kearney) on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the age of 83. Beloved and treasured mother of Anne, Philip and Michael, mother-in-law to Pete, Laura and Lori. Agnes will be greatly missed as well by her grandchildren Alexandra, Cameron, Charlotte, Simon, Claire, Livia and Tova, and by her great grandchildren Sullivan and Silas. She was predeceased by her parents Michael and Mary Kearney, her husband Ted Wells, and her siblings Mary, Norah, John and twin Tom. Outside of Canada she is survived by her sister Cath and her sisters-in-law Pat and Dot and their children. Agnes was a dynamic presence, always on the go. She loved to be active physically and enjoyed tennis, playing golf, and going for long walks. She was a social person and thrived in the presence of family and friends, enjoyed playing bridge, Mah-Jongg, and the cryptic crossword; she loved a great discussion about anything going on in the world. She was fiercely supportive of her children, indeed a best friend for her son Michael. She enjoyed visitors and had a passion for travel. She greatly valued her career as a draftsperson at Ontario Hydro. Agnes was beautiful and always elegant, yet tough. She survived lymphoma treatment, including a stem cell transplant, twice. She loved and was loved by all who knew her. Unfortunately, in the last few years dementia claimed her mind but never her spirit – she was feisty till the end. Thanks to Jim Sinclair and her friend Yvonne Roche for always keeping in touch. Cremation has taken place and a private family service at a later date. Arrangements entrusted with A. Millard George Funeral Home, 519-433-5184. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com

Saddened for all of you….. it’s never easy loosing a loved one, but take comfort in knowing she no longer struggles. Remembering a beautiful, vibrant woman, will hopefully get you through these sad times. Hugs to all.
Sending love and condolences to Ally, Anne, and all of the family. I know that Nan was such a wonderful fixture in your family and that she will be fiercely missed. I remember going up to Kincardine in high school to spend the weekend at her beautiful home. She was such a warm woman. Lots of love to you all.
I always enjoyed Agnes’ wit, energy and love of life. She certainly made this world a brigher place. I will miss her.
Deepest condolences to Ally, Anne and Peter and family,
We are so sorry for the loss of your Mother and Grandmother. Although we never met her, the beautiful pictures and words give us a glimpse of the love she had for her family. We hope the wonderful memories she left with you help you through this sad time. You are all in our thoughts.
Ally, Anne, Peter & Family,
I’m so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of talking with Agnes a few times when she ventured out from Prince George for a walk and I found her to be quite friendly and full of energy. You are in my thoughts.
Agnes was my parents’ friend and our neighbour. I considered her my friend too. She was always interested in my family when I saw her on her long walks at the beach or on the golf course. Fond memories of a lovely lady.
Agnes was such a lovely person. I knew her as the Nana to my dear friend Ally. I had the opportunity to spend time with her when she hosted four of us high school girls at her home by the beach in Kincardine. I remember that she packed us a picnic to watch the sunset on the beach with a special blanket that she said her and her husband used to watch sunsets together. She was very sweet and kind and I see so much of that in her granddaughter. And this photo shows how beautiful she was, just like Anne, Ally and Charlotte. I’m so sorry for your loss and will remember her fondly.
With deepest sympathy and prayers. Love cousin Mary. X
Thank you for posting the comments and photos. The best way to remember Agnes is as she was – a sharp, kind, lovely lady with a great sense of humour. The life and soul of a party.
I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Nan. I have such fond memories of visiting her in Kincardine with Ally when we were young. She was such a confident, classy woman – I remember being in awe of the way she carried herself and treated Ally and I…. like mature young women (although I can’t say we were quite there yet at the time!! :)). I’m also pretty sure that it was with Nan that I had my first taste of fish and chips! I’ll always be grateful to Nan for these warm, wonderful memories. Much love, Charlotte
My deepest condolences in the loss of your mother, Anne, to you and your entire family. No matter the age, there is never a good time to lose someone you love.
