Obituary
WOODS, Deb….
Sadly, at University Hospital, on Friday, August 4, 2017 from a heart attack, Debra Jean Woods, in her 63rd year. Beloved wife of Ed, best friend to Tru. Deb is survived by many members of both her birth and adoptive families, but is predeceased by both sets of parents. She will also be sadly missed by the Baston family of Faversham, Kent, England; and by the Gough and Goodwin families of Mt. Brydges, Ontario and Amherst, Nova Scotia. Deb was predeceased by an infant daughter, Melody, and her first husband, musician Bill Martin. Deb was a long-time employee of L.H.S.C., a graduate of Lakehead University, a Hospice volunteer, a fan of Eastlake furniture and Art Deco pottery, and a big cheerleader for the Toronto Blue Jays. She loved the music of David Phelps, Josh Groban, and especially Johnny Reid. She survived breast cancer, diabetes, a stroke and five previous heart attacks with style and courage. She took inspiration from her friends. Deb was grateful for everything. Among her physicians and caregivers were Drs. Richard, Jain, Parry, Hebb, McDonald, Lock, Prior, Variano and Lavi, as well as the wonderful staff and residents of U.H. 5th floor and the St. Joseph’s endocrine clinic. Deb is currently being reunited with her Grandma, who taught her about pastry, cooking without a recipe, and life; she is also with her pals Sadie, Smitty, Dakota and Mel, all in the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London where a memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11 am. Interment in Ball Cemetery, Auburn, Ontario. I am so saddened to hear the news. Deb and I met as she frequented our shop to purchase flowers. We became friends and shared stories about our life and the journey. She will be missed. My deepest sympathies go to her family and husband Ed. May there be red and purple tulips that surround you now Deb.
