Obituary
Johanna “Scholzie” Scholze….
On September 15, 2016 at Arbor Trace Special Care Center, London, Ontario Johanna “Scholzie” departed this world on the wings of angels. Born in Friedland, Germany, Johanna immigrated to Canada in 1956 to join her sister and family in Seaforth, Ontario. She became a Registered Nursing Assistant and lovingly cared for her patients at the old Victoria Hospital for many years. In 1981, she retired as a Cardiology Technician, having taken ECG measures of many a heart with her warm smile and gentle humour. Beloved sister of Gerda (Scholze) Uderstadt; predeceased by dear brother-in-law Henry Uderstadt (2006); dearest Tante Hanni to Christel and Bob Morton, Gerd and Ketty Uderstadt, Axel Uderstadt and Helen Scott, as well as to seven grand-nieces and nephews and their families, including 12 great-grand nephews. Johanna was a friend and helpmate to many. She is fondly remembered as a loyal, compassionate and courageous woman with an adventurous spirit and a generous heart. We love her and miss her. We will honour her memory by doing a Random Act of Kindness whenever we can, thus following her excellent example. We are most thankful to everyone at Arbor Trace where our aunt received outstanding care and support and where she was honored with a birthday party when she reached her goal of making it to 100. Visitation will be held from 12pm-1pm at A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 where the funeral service will be at 1pm. Pastor Al Roberts of First Baptist Church officiating. Private interment at a later date, at Woodland Cemetery. It was Johanna’s wish that, in memory of her life and, in lieu of flowers, friends please consider making a donation to the First Baptist Church or Victoria Hospital – Patient Care (through The London Health Sciences Hospital Foundation). It was a pleasure to know Scholzie in my youth. She took her RNA training and later worked with my mom, Minnie Aitken, at the old Vic. I remember her as a pleasant and funny lady. She remained a close friend with my mom until her death in 1985. She would visit with mom and dad when they were in hospital.
I’m sure Scholzie and Minnie are reminiscing together at their Savior’s feet in their new home in heaven.
God bless and comfort Scholzie’s family at this time and be assured Scholzie is in a far better place.
It is with sadness that we heard of Tante Hanni’s death but at the same time, we are very grateful for her long life. Tante Hanni was surely an example of God’s great Love and her vivacious personality and good humour were a lasting memory for all of us. It was a pleasure to have known her through or daughter and son-in-law. Christian and Leslie told us of many happy memories they have built over the years with Tante Hanni and they marvelled at her strength and courage, her love of life, her tremendous relationship with her sister Gerda Uderstaat and the entire Morton family. From playing soccer with Jenna’s children to her long walks, Tante Hanni treasured the beauty surrounding her. We will miss hearing of her escapades but wish her peace and comfort in the loving arms of our Lord.
