Memories of Auntie Pat never fail to bring a smile to our faces. She was feisty yet soft, determined and loving, and always welcoming with open arms and kisses whenever we saw her. We will miss you always.
I have known Pat most of my life both as a wife of Cecil Spicer and later the widow of Ralph Newton. I got to know her much better as the loving companion of my Uncle Gordon Eyre and enjoyed many hours in their company at our home and also at Pat’s home. She was very clever, a feisty woman and a loving woman. The most notable thing to me was that she never got over loosing her beloved and clever son at a very early age. That changed her and she talked about Rodney often and showed his handsome picture frequently. I also learned a bit about her handsome grandsons and the grandbabies. Since she has moved to London I have stayed in touch about her welfare through Marilyn Eyre, my sister-in-law, quite frequently. I know absolutely she would be “over the moon” to know she is being laid to rest beside her beloved son, Rodney. You grandsons have done a marvellous job in taking care of her these last years and my hat is off to you both for a job well done. My deepest sympathy to you and all your extended family.
Sincerely,
Theda Burns-Hersey (Eyre)
I am blessed to have known Pat. She was a good friend and we shared many treasured memories. Many times we would have a visit and enjoy a wide selection of her favorite music on DVD and also some great music performers on PBS television. She had a fun sense of humor and a kind smile. A good heart has stopped beating and a good soul ascended to heaven. We will never forget the image of her gentle and bright face. Pat was enormously proud of her grandsons Richard and Chris and their families. Their father Rodney would be so proud of them for being by their grandmothers side and taking such good care of her.
Our deepest sympathy to you and all extended family.
Sincerely
Marilyn and Rick Eyre
Please accept our sincere condolences. Pat was a friend to our family over the years. Although we had lost touch since my wife’s (mother’s) passing, we have fond memories of times spent together.
