We first met Grace on a Pauwels tour of Paris & Seville in 2002. We just “clicked” and enjoyed many fun times over the years enjoying visits, lunches and trips abroad. We will miss our good times together!

Living far away (Thunder Bay) I will be unable to meet & celebrate with Grace’s friends & relatives. Grace was one who made friends easily. She befriended even casual contacts – be it a drugstore clerk, a cab driver or a nurse. Her helpfulness and understanding were so unfailing and we all know that she was as kind as she was wise. My family and I will miss her greatly.

I, like many were so fortunate to have Grace (Gracie) in my life. Grace was an inspiration to me and I feel that it was her influence and example that helped to guide me toward a career in highschool guidance & counselling.
Aside from brief encounters at family gatherings, it wasn’t until Grace rented a cottage on Trout Lake in 2007 that we truly reconnected. That vacation afforded us time for casual dinners, boat rides & provided the perfect venue for Grace to indulge her love of swimming. We shared life stories, book lists and wine lists! We also enjoyed a lot of laughter.
Grace was my confidant – always sincere in her desire to listen and to help and she shared that with many others who were fortunate to call her their friend.
I admired Grace’s confidence and independence. I appreciated her compassion for others, her joy of life, and the love and loyalty that she had for her family members and her friends.
Her friendship was truly treasured.

I have great memories of trips together to Nassau and Jamaica. Muriel and I remember the stench of the conch that Grace brought back to the room and left in the bathroom. I also have memories of heart to heart talks at Saunders. Rest in peace, Grace. You will be missed.

I just got thinking of Mrs Earley, in her role of Vice Principal at Saunders Secondary School. I was there from 1980 to 1985, and during her time there, she and I had a few talks (not talk like that!) where she was witty and generous and a good conversationalist. In retrospect, it’s obvious she was dedicated and devoted to her profession. Mrs Earley, if I’m being honest, was the brains in the admin team at Saunders for the years that I was there. Fast forward to today, I have been an educator for 25 years, and I found her voice coming out of my mouth, and it was the voice of reason. She was fair and observant. Again, being honest, students were afraid of her, because they knew they couldn’t slip one by on her. Anyway, for the family of Grace Earley, wow, almost 9 years after her passing, a 58 year old (she knew me as a punk rock kid) teacher who was once one of her students was thinking of her fondly today, and found himself surprisingly sad about her passing.
