BEATTIE, Eileen…

Passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at Victoria Hospital on Saturday, July 4, 2015. Eileen Beattie (nee Sumner) of London was in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Bob Beattie (1993). Proud mother of Linda (Bryan) Hodgert, Larry (Gayle) Beattie and Mike (Karen) Beattie. Cherished grandma of Lynne (Shawn) Watkinson, Samantha and Courtney Beattie and great-grandmother to Grace. Survived by sisters-in-law Dorothy, Marg, Faye, Geri and Marge. Predeceased by her grandson Daryl Hodgert, brother Murray (Eileen), sisters-in-law Anne (Arnie), Mary (Andy), Audrey (Don), and brothers-in-law Dave (Gladys), Jack (Mary), Art, Syd and Lawrence. Eileen was a long time proud member of the IODE and loved golf. She fondly remembered her time spent with her “Nasty Nine” friends and had many good memories of her trips and winters spent in Lakeland Florida. The family wishes to thank the staff of Ashwood Manor for their kindness, support and care of Eileen. Also the family is grateful for the outstanding care she received from CCU (Cardiac Care Unit) staff at Victoria Hospital. Friends will be received by the family 6-9 pm on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street, London. The funeral service will be conducted at Westmount Presbyterian Church, 521 Village Green Ave, London on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 11:00am with visitation at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Interment in Pond Mills Cemetery.     Sending condolences from Paul and I in the passing of Eileen.Have so may fond memories from First Westminster when we all attended all the functions there.Enjoyed seeing the family and her at her 90th.

    It was with sadness that I received word of Eileen Beattie’s death from Linda. During the years of my ministry at First Westminster on Wilton Grove Road (1971-75), Eileen was my neighbour, my colleague, and my friend. She and I were a team! Whatever vessel we managed to set afloat at that time, Eileen was part of the wind in its sail.
    Over the years, we have continued to keep in touch—both in person and by the telephone. Even as recently as this year, Eileen was able to help me clear up and sort through persons/families related to that Pastoral Charge.
    Commitments prevent me from expressing my sympathy in person; however, I do want to convey to Linda and Larry and Michael my sincere condolences.
