Obituary
GOERTZ, Dwight……
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Dwight Goertz, on Saturday, October 18, 2014, in his 69th year. Dwight was beloved husband of Barbara (Stableford), treasured father to Rebecca (William), Anthony and David (Jennifer). Cherished Papa to Alexa, John, Madelyn and Kathryn.
As a successful business owner, Dwight understood the value of hard work, building strong relationships and good leadership. A man of many interests, he loved to read, play cards and watch golf, but perhaps his greatest joy in life came from his role as the Goertz family patriarch. Dwight delighted in every stage of childhood with his grandchildren, bringing much laughter and wisdom to their lives. For his three children, the strength of his love has been perpetually and deeply felt. This indeed, was his greatest legacy to them.
Dwight will be dearly missed by his wife of 47 years, Barbara, with whom he earnestly shared all of the joys and sorrows of this life. In times of joy and in times of adversity, he was a steadfast companion who anchored the family with his good humour, compassion and devotion. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 from 4:30 – 7:30pm at the Highland Golf Club, 1922 Highland Heights, London. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 180-633 Colborne Street, London, ON N6B 2V3. Shocked at this sad news.
Please accept my heartfelt sympathies.
Dear Barbara and family.More than twenty years have passed since I saw your husband, Dwight, last at a convention in California.Yet as I look at his picture in the obituary now,so many memories come flooding back.He was a true friend and colleague. From him I learned how to invite prospects and clients to my office, rather than visiting them at their homes. We used to fight for first place in the presidents division. His smile, his firm hand shake, really his whole personality were so real. There was always a kind word of praise and encouragement. He always had time for me.Then Aetna disappeared,I got sick and sold my portfolio.Dwight went on to greater things. And now his earthly journey is over.I want to offer my most sincere and deepest sympathy to you all with the prayer to the God I serve, that He may comfort and sustain you in these days of sorrow.I will always remember him.
Very sorry to hear this sad news.
May God Bless his soul
I am very sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Anthony, I am deeply saddened by the news of your father’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
To the family of Dwight Goertz; I just ran across Dwight’s obituary online and want to express my condolences. I knew Dwight in grade school on Vashon Island where we attended the Bethel Church pastored by Herb. Dwight would often show up at our house on his bicycle with a pack of “Authors” cards in his pocket. He had all the cards memorized and was hard to beat. He was also very good at “sword drills” , looking up Bible verses, as he had many of the most common verses memorized. We left Vashon in 1959 a few years after the Goertz family moved on but my memories of Dwight linger on.
