Barry was always a pleasure to work with and always had a smile to share. Condolences to his family. May your happy memories bring you comfort.
Barry’s sense of humour will be missed terribly here at the library. Barry will always be in our thoughts
To Barry’s family and friends, I’m so very sorry for your loss. Barry’s sense of humour and friendly wave will be missed by his many colleagues at London Public Library.
My most heartfelt sympathy to Barry’s family. Barry was such a sweet guy. We worked together at the London Public Library for the 17 years that I was there. There was never a nicer guy, always with a helping hand, a joke and a smile. We used to talk a lot about music and I fondly remember him telling me about how he built his left handed banjo. I will miss him.
Barry — I’ll miss you! You always brightened my work day with your jokes, your smiles, your singing and your good nature! Somehow, I know you’re still smiling upon us all! My heartfelt sympathies to Barry’s family for your loss. Kind regards, Eeva
Barry was such a fun loving guy! He always brought a smile to my face. He could brighten up your day with a gesture, a joke or just with a smile. I looked forward to seeing him. But most of all, Barry was a caring friend with such a kind and gentle heart.
Bless you my friend, I will miss you!
My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time – Barry will be greatly missed by all of his friends at London Public Library.
I am so sad to hear about Barry. I worked with him at the Landon Library when I first started at London Public Library in 1980 and more recently at the Central Library. His smile, wave, sense of humour and dedication will be missed. My thoughts are with the McConnell.

To the McConnell family;
Please accept my condolences and prayers, at this time. I will sadly miss Barry, (Big Bare), as I always called him and ‘Cheif’, as he always called me. I will miss our many conversations about ‘everything’. R.I.P. Barry
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My sincere sympathy and prayers go out to you and yours….hope to see you soon at our monthly curve lunch gatherings.
I was deeply saddened to hear of Barry’s death. I worked with him at Landon Branch in the 70’s and again in the 90’s. We had many great conversations together and shared many jokes. He will be missed.
Dear Shirley and Amanda, I was shocked and saddened to hear of your Husband/Father’s passing. Please know I am thinking of you at this terrible time. Yours sincerely, Barb ( from Curves )
My heart is heavy at the very sad news of Barry. He will never be forgotten by the many who new him so well. May God bless his soul and may he find everlasting peace.
My condolences to Barry’s wife, children and family on his passing. Barry always wore a smile at work and his humour brought out even more smiles from his co-workers. He will be sorely missed at the library.
My deepest condolences to the McConnell family. Barry was such a sweet, kind-hearted man who loved to make his colleagues laugh and smile. He will be greatly missed.
Aunt Shirley, Amanda & Amber, we’re so sorry.
I’ve been good friends with Barry’s youngest daughter Amanda for over 10 years now and every time I would go over, if he was home, I’d be sure to have left the McConnell home with at least a few good laughs…
My fondest and funniest memories of him are when he’d wake up around 2 or 3am and walk across to the bathroom in his boxers half asleep, him saying “Well there you go” while smiling and watching him spend time with the hamsters. Shirley and Amanda had to hide junk food from him because if they didn’t, he’d eat it all – too funny. He also called me “kiddo” and was always so friendly to me. I will miss all of these things and more.
Barry was such a kind, humble and funny man. I’m glad I had the opportunity to know him and I hope that at least his sense of humour will help Shirley, Amber and Amanda get through this.
On behalf of my Parents, my Brother and myself, we send our deepest condolences to the ladies and the rest of his family, friends and coworkers.
My sincere condolences for your loss. I worked with Barry for nearly 20 years and he always brightened my day. With his sweet smile, kind words and quick wit, he made the world a better place. I also had the pleasure of working with Amber many years ago at the Crouch Library. Whenever Barry talked about Amber and Amanda, his face lit up. He was so proud of his girls. He will be greatly missed. I hope the many wonderful memories of your husband and dad bring you comfort in the days to come.
I have been a page at the Byron Library for a very long time and Barry has been in and out of the library lots and lots of times. He always was such a happy guy and it was always so lovely just to chat with him for a few minutes. He always made me laugh and i so appreciated his upbeat humour and gentle views of life. I will really miss seeing him. My heart goes out to all of you. Blessings. Margee
I am both shocked and saddened to hear about Barry’s passing. Barry was such a sweet man. I’ve missed his smile and gentle heart on Thursday nights and Sundays singing in the choir. My deepest condolences to the McConnell family.
I will very greatly miss Barry at LPL. Barry learned I was a singer, and always would sing me a tune whenever and wherever he would see me in the library system. He once joked we should do a duets concert together. I wish we had. He had a little inside joke or nickname for so many staff, he will truly be missed. I’m incredibly saddened by his passing, and send all sorts of love and thoughts to his family.
I had the privilege of working with Barry for more than 30 years and I can’t remember a day that he didn’t have a kind word, smile or a song to share. He will be missed but I hope the stories we all share of his humour and kindness will bring his family and friends comfort.
To Bob & Bill & Judy and Families and our sympathy to Barry’s family. Thinking of you.

Barry was a great guy. I’m a regular at the London Public Library. Barry was always pleasant and always remembered you. It was great to talk about work and retirement with Barry. Whenever you see someone on the job as long as Barry, it’s sad that he won’t enjoy a well deserved retirement.
My deepest condolences… from a former organist/choir director at Centennial United Church…
I didn’t have a conversation with Barry without it ending in a belly laugh! We were so lucky to have him around work. My thoughts are with your family.
Barry and I worked together for more than 30 years. We laughed over his jokes, saluted each other on the escalator and enjoyed conversations about a variety of things. Barry was one of the kindest people I know and I will miss him greatly.
