Dear Opa,
Today you rest peaceful and we are happy to remember our Opa as a grandpa, great grandpa, friend, our silly clown, and our dare to try anything once spirit. All of our memories are happy and fun filled. We enjoyed days of exploring the back of the field, riding our bikes, playing at the beach and eating ice cream anytime of the day. We played many games of cards and danced the polka. We loved watching soccer with you and talking about the plays and goals scored. We love that the great grandaughters think everything orange means “Go Holland”.
You were never an old man to us, you had energy to burn and we could talk to you about anything. We didn’t need toys, only our imagination. The love we have for you is most powerful. An untainted, honest and pure love. You’ve taught us to play a little longer, be kind to our neighbour and love our family unconditionally. You taught us empathy and to never judge a book by it’s cover.
The last minutes of your life were amazing. You were there for us, you were our Opa, you were peaceful, dignified, happy and strong. You were surrounded by so much love. Today you’re in heaven with your family. Your mom and dad must be so proud just as we are.
Your spirit will live in all of us. We don’t say goodbye, we say so long. We love you Opa our rock our happy place!!
Love your Grandchildren and Great Granddaughters
Beste Marietje, kinderen en kleinkinderen,
