Obituary
YARR, William “Bill”….
Surrounded by family, after a brief illness at University Hospital, London on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, Bill Yarr of London in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Joyce (Smith) Yarr for 66 years. Proud father of Sally Zandri, Wendy Yarr, Penny Wilkins and Kelly Palmer. Father-in-law to Michael and Frank. Cherished Grandfather of Rob, Lindsay (Ian), Jessica, Michaila, Marcus and Jocelyn. As a young man, Bill worked hard to provide the best for his family. Even in his 30’s with a wife and 4 daughters, Bill attended McMaster University to pursue his passion – teaching. Between sailing the Great Lakes and wintering in Florida, he made many life-long friends. London became his home after many years in the Niagara Area. Card games, Bingo and football conversations kept Bill entertained for the last several years. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The celebration of Bill’s life will be held in the chapel on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 1 pm, with Reverend David R. Carrothers officiating. Dear Sally,
I just read about your dad and want to express my sympathy. My dad passed away ten years ago and I still think about and miss him very much. But the memories of him and his special qualities live on in me and our children.
Take care, thinking of you.

Dear Aunt Joyce and Girls: I was deeply saddened and shocked to learn od Uncle Bill’s passing. I will always remember that big laugh of his and those warm hugs that would pick me up right off my feet. My thoughts and prayers are with you.Cousin Karen
Mrs. Yarr, Kelly, Penny, Wendy and especially Sally…..My sincere condolences to the entire Yarr clan. I have so many wonderful memories of time spent at your home during our high school years. Of all my friends’ dads, yours definitely was the most colourful ! I vividly remember his crazy antics and also hearing him bellow throughout the house and basement. There was always a fun time to be had at the Yarr’s. May all the good memories provide you with joy and laughter, to help you all get through the tough days ahead. Thinking of you, with love. Helen

My deepest sympathy to you and your family Joyce on the passing of Bill.
I never met Bill but I was privileged to have three wonderful telephone conversations with him.
My maiden name was Yarr and my father was from England. One day I looked in the London phone directory and came across a William Yarr. I very nervously dialled the number thinking the person would just hang up as soon as I said who I was. It was an hour later when Bill and I finally said “Good-bye”. Bill told me so much about his past and how he changed his name to Yarr. On July 25, 2013 I called Bill and Joyce to wish then a Happy 65th Anniversary and had another lengthy conversation with Bill. The newspaper photo is still on my fridge. I was surprised how Bill remembered our previous conversations and was happy to talk again. A very kind man with a beautiful smile. Thank you for letting me tell you about a man who didn’t hang up and shared a part of his life journey with me.
With my deepest sympathy
