I was so saddened to hear of Clair’s passing. He was so very kind to me in the Housing Department, bringing me coffee when the dining hall was closed for the week! I’ll always remember Clair as a “gentle giant.” My sympathies go out to his family on this huge loss.
Lashley Family – We are deeply saddened by your loss. Clair was a wonderful person who always made those around him smile with his outgoing and generous nature. He will be greatly missed by those for us who knew him. May God watch over and keep you during this very difficult time and once the grief subsides may you have nothing by loving and fun memories.
We are deeply saddened by Clair’s passing and our thoughts go out to his loving family, whom he adored.
We will always remember Clair as a gentle, humble and thoughtful human being with a delightful sense of humour. Clair encouraged us to follow our dreams. He cherished his friends and cultivated new ones very quickly. In fact, I first met Clair through work but a friendship soon ensued and before too long he was having a positive affect on us.
The picture that was chosen for this posting is a perfect one. His shear size alone would make people notice him but it was his eyes and smile that would light up a room. When I look at this picture, I can hear the laughter or the teasing that would soon follow it.
Simply put, there are no words to express the sorrow we have for his family and their deep loss as well as our own.
We were not lucky enough to meet all of his family but they must be amazing people because Clair was an amazing man with a very big heart. We do know how much he adored and cherished Clair Jr. and he boasted when he spoke of Jada. He had great respect for Donna and looked forward to their many travelling excursions. Perhaps they will now provide many wonderful memories to cherish dear.
His passing is hard to fathom and frankly makes no sense at all. We will remember Clair forever in our hearts and hope that we can all be or become as “big” of a human being as he was.
Goodbye Big Clair. Gone but not forgotten.

May time heal your hearts and memories comfort your soul. I just want to pass along my deepest sympathy to all of Claire’s family and friends and share a verse that I think says it all.
Those we love don’t go away,
they walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard but always near,
still loved, still missed & very dear.
For death leaves a heartache
no one can heal,
and love leaves a memory
no one can steal.
Will miss you dearly
Mary & family

To the family and friends of our dear friend, Clair: Please accept my sympathies for Clair’s physical absence from our lives, his memory will live on with us.
After meeting him for the first time at work, I told to this giant man “just give me two months and I will exactly look like you!” With his usual warm smile, he replied “go for it”. After several months I showed him my bulging stomach and regretted my failure! I do definitely miss him and wishing all of you patience.
My heartfelt sympathies to Clair’s family on the loss of such a wonderful and kind person from their lives. May you rejoice and find peace in your memories of Clair.
Our heartfelt sympathy to Clair’s family. He was great to have a laugh with and share a story – especially about Coronation Street. He certainly will be missed.
Rest In Peace Clair.
I met Clair many many years ago when I d.j.’ed at Brass Tacks and again at Sweetwaters and I last saw him when I worked at Robinson Hall…thru the many many times we met I have never seen the man angry or upset… laughing ? yes for sure…he was as people have said a “gentle giant”. I am shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family.
To the Lashey Family and Friends.
My husband and I would like to express our deepest sympathy in this difficult period of time. We are very sorry for your loss. We remain confident that the promise contained in the Bible about the resurrection can help you go throug this hearth breaking moment.(John 5:28,29).
