BAKER, Terry Lin….
It is with great sadness the family announces the unexpected passing at home of Terry Baker in his 70th year on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Nancy Baker (2003) and cherished partner of Anne Matthews. Much loved father of Stacey Baker (Ryan Pocrnich). Dear brother of Michael (Mica) Baker and Carla (Ian) McDonald. Also survived by his sister-in-law Donna (the late Gus) Kerhoulas. Predeceased by his parents Charles Baker and Kay Casagrande and his sister Victoria Baker. Amazing uncle to Dean, Jennifer, Michael, Nicholas, Jessica, Kathleen and Emily. Sadly missed by many family and friends. Terry “The Bear” will always be remembered for his sense of humour, love of sports and music. He was the #1 fan of the Detroit Tigers. If you didn’t see him at the Ceeps you would find him at a baseball park, on somebody’s boat, deck or watching some sport in his living room on the T.V. He had many friends and loved to have a beer and shoot the breeze. He was a dedicated employee of former London landmark Bob’s T.V. for many years. In his earlier years he was one of the first DJ’s in London. He was a cool cat, a true rock star and amazing guy. He was a wizard at crosswords, a master of trivia and scrabble, and a lover of jigsaw puzzles. He was a good friend to many, a loving and devoted father to Stacey. Although Nancy is no longer here she always remained in Terry’s heart. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by family from 5-8 pm on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. Interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family invites friends to Celebrate “The Bear’s” life at the Ceeps, 671 Richmond Street at Mill Street, London, from 2-4pm on Friday, January 31st. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society London/ Middlesex Chapter or St. Joseph’s Hospice of London. Terry the Bear was a huge influence on my life as “THE” Disc Jockey during our time at the Noodle Factory Disco in the mid 1970s. He was the best DJ and I remember being a doorman / Maitre’d while dancing to the latest tunes that this marvelous man would spin and in some cases, made famous. Patrons and Dancers came from all over Canada and the USA came to London Ontario to dance to his tunes.
You were the best Terry. You will be missed and on behalf of all of those at the Noodle Factory … thanks for the tunes, the memories and leading us on to “Do the Hustle”.

Terry was a great guy.I enjoyed his company very funny with lots of jokes to tell.
I remember Terry driving back with me to Ottawa after a night of partying in the 60’s.

I have years of happy memories of times shared with Terry and Nancy: at the cottage, visiting friends, coming home in the dingy singing “The Old Man Came from the Forest”, scrabble on the deck are just a few. And in London, joining us for supper after a matinee. Lots of fun.

“Ter the Bear”…so many fond memories,man-o-man,we had so manylaughs(and beers). Ter the Bear,you are forever etched in my mind never to be forgotten.Nancy was a gem too and why she put up with us is no mystery! Pure love of the Bear!
A good friend from the noodle factory days, terry will be sadly missed by many. Words can’t express the joy he brought to many and the impact he had on my life and all those who knew him. Rest in peace Terry, your friend ‘Doug Elgin’!

I really wish I could be at tonight’s visitation and the Ceeps celebration but I am down with a cold. I was good friends with both of your parents and have always remembered the day we went sailing on my boat at Bayfield. I miss them both very much.
Terry was a special friend. We both loved baseball and good conversation. No one was a better partner at a ballgame or over a beverage at the old Press Club. You will hear this over and over from Terry’s friends because it is the absolute truth. You have incredibly good genes, young lady. All the best…Don Murray..
