Obituary
CARTER, Marjorie Amelia….
Passed peacefully, surrounded by family at Victoria Hospital, London, on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Marjorie (Nee Bowra) Carter was in her 89th year, and will be deeply missed by children Larry McPherson, Bob McPherson(Ginny) and Kathy McPherson (Trent), granddaughter Laurie Wright, great grandchildren Austin, Aimee and Ashlee, extended family and dear friends. Marjorie was predeceased by parents Beatrice and Frank Bowra, brother Stan Bowra (Isabel), husbands Lloyd McPherson and Bert Carter, and great granddaughter Sarah. Mom grew up in Toronto and St Thomas, before moving to London as a young bride. Marjorie’s children were her passion, and life’s simplest pleasures gave her the greatest joy. She devoted herself to everything she did and found fulfillment in family, friends, faith, working with veterans at Victoria Hospital, volunteering at Dearness home and caring for all manner of pets and strays – including Nancy. Her favourite gift was the gift of giving. She gave effortlessly and abundantly, with care and compassion, unconditional love and lemon pie. Marjorie saw beauty in all that surrounds us and while she admired perfection, she cherished the flaws. Her days were filled with love and laughter, treasured family, finery of friendships, golden moments, and celebration of life’s small wonders. She also enjoyed the New York Yankees, Canada’s curling teams, and men in shorts. If life were a garden and people were flowers Marjorie would be our sunflower. She would stand high above us, spreading warmth and sunshine and sowing seeds of love that will grow in our hearts forever. Visitation from 12-1pm, followed by funeral service at 1pm in the chapel of the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, on Monday, July 15, 2013. Interment in Woodland Cemetery, London. Family requests donations in lieu of flowers to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, London/Middlesex Chapter, 21 Grosvenor Street, London ON N6A 4V2.
