Sorry for your loss, Bill, Steve & Bob & your families.
Agnes was head of Interlibrary Loans at Taylor Library when I was hired as a Library Reference Assistant. Under her supervision, that department became recognized as one that was precise in verification of sources and efficiency. She taught me a lot while our two departments worked synergistically together to provide impeccable service to the academic community. I will remember her joy of life, kindness and sincerity in always doing a good job for the students and faculty at the University of Western Ontario. I was very lucky to have known her and know that she will be missed by all of her colleagues at Western.
So sorry to have learned of your loss. I have many fond memories of our gatherings together at Seawood Avenue. I remember Agnes as always being welcoming and friendly when I came to call at the house. In more recent years, whenever we had occasion to cross paths I appreciated her interest and her freindly, familiar manner. I will remember her smile and her distinctive laugh. I hope your many fond memories bring you solace.
When I lost my father, someone suggested to me that I could honour him by endeavouring to emulate the qualitied in him that I admired most. It made me feel better to think that the best of him could live on in me. Perhaps you could do the same.
I regret that I am unable to join you on Friday, but my thoughts are with you.
