Obituary
HAMMOND, Reverend Stanley McKenzie…At Country Terrace Nursing Home, Komoka on Monday, July 16, 2012 Reverend Stanley M. Hammond in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of the late Evelyn Hammond (1994). Dear father of David E. Hammond and his wife Karen of Barrie and S. Elizabeth Brown and her husband Earl of Delaware. Also loved by grandchildren Joel (Adrianne), April (Don), Aaron (Debbie), Christopher and Andrew and seven great-grandsons, who he adored and gave him so much joy. Loving brother of Robert Hammond, John (Margaret) Hammond, Marjorie Stewart and Christina Dickson. Predeceased by his sister Dorothy Brydon. Stanley immigrated to London, Ontario in 1959 and was Pastor of Faith Tabernacle on Richmond Street. In 1964 he was ordained into the Apostolic Church of Canada and moved to Peterborough and then Toronto and then finally retired in Delaware, Ontario. He was a member of the Board of Directors at Elim Bible School, Lima, New York. His missionary work took him to many places including Nigeria, Brazil and Australia. Dad travelled and preached until he was in his late 80’s, his feet firmly on the ground and his heart planted in the word of God. We can but thank the Lord for the grounding that was shared with us. His love of classical music and his talents playing the violin were enjoyed by many. He was an Associate and Licentiate of Trinity College of Music. We love you and miss you Dad, many thanks to the nursing staff and Dr. Whynot of Country Terrace for their care and dedication. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 12 Noon until 1:00 pm (1 hour prior) at the A. He has run the race well and is receiving his price from Him who he loved so faithfuly.
Pastor Stanley had great influence on our growth in Christ and not enough things can be said to honour him here on this page but eternity will reveal it all.
What a graduation pastor Stanley. With love
Karel and Eve
Ps. Hammond was not only a mentor, but a friend. I lived with he and his family for a year, and saw him practicing many times on his violin like in this picture. He lived what he believed and preached. He was a real person who loved God with all his heart. I valued him greatly. He is with his Lord and Savior now; but will always be missed by those that loved him.
Few people have impacted my life like Pastor Stanley M. Hammond. He created in me a hunger for both the Word of God and the Voice of God. His ability to unfold revelation was truly a joy to experience. The Body of Christ has been equipped to advance because of his faithfulness to his Saviour’s call. As the national leader of The Apostolic Apostolic Church In Canada I want to share our sincerest condolences with his family and our deepest gratitude for his life and ministry to our international fellowship.
“So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.” Acts 19:20 Thank You Pastor Stanley. The Word you faithfully imparted will continue to prevail.

We remember the visits most of all.
-off to “The Magic Flute” music store with brother John like two kids in a candy shop.
-the impromptu duet concert-violin and clarinet- with niece Jean who never plays in public.
-the inspiring grace at niece Linda’s wedding.
-the reluctance of Kieran aged four to share his i-pad with Uncle Stanley who finally won.
-those wonderful chats about times and people past providing us with knowlege of family and the world.
We will miss you, Stanley.
Uncle Stanley was a wonderful uncle. I shall miss his warmth and his incredible ability to see the joyful humour in things — and never at someone else’s expense. I have fond memories of seeing him play his violin and remember when he and David performed in a little family concert. The richness of his blessings were not lost on him. It all ends too soon. Msy God continue to bless him.
A loss is never easy even when doing your best to prepare yourself for what you know will come some day. Knowing how much you have learned from him and the love shared, is the best gift he has left behind for you to carry on in your life and onto others. He will always be with you and a special part of you.
Deepest heart felt sympathies to your family.
Sincerely,
Lydia
I am still Pastoring in Northern New York largely because of a “word” Stanley gave to me. He was an incredible man with great gifting from the Lord. It is rare to see someone used in the Prophetic with clear understanding and yet a heart full of love for people. He was a true revelation of Christ to many. My sorrow and condolences to the family!
Our dear brother, Stanley, was a wonderful man and carried an apostolic anointing. At Elim Fellowship he was known primarily for his prophetic ministry in the churches. His life has touched so many of us and he will be greatly missed. We thank God for his life.

REv. Stanley was an encouragement to us in our early days as Elim missionaries to Nigeria where we continue at the Bible School that Edgar Parkyns used to lead. We thank God for the life of our dear brother.
We send our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Bro. Hammond. He will be dearly missed by Ginny and me. Several years ago he gave an encouraging prophetic word to us, that spurred us on to continued ministry. We thank our Lord for the example of a minister who has finished well.
Stanley was a great friend to our family and to our church. Our church is different because of his ministry to us. He introduced us to a balanced prophetic ministry. My children grew up with Stanley frequently in our home. They loved him too. He will be remembered for so many things and his touch will be felt for many years to come. We feel this loss deeply and our congregation is praying for the family.

My wife Emily and I are sorry for your loss. Brother Hammond’s ministry was first introduced to me when I was a senior at Elim Bible Institute, during the prayer and prophecy time for the senior class. I can still hear his words as he spoke a fresh word from the Lord over my life. It continues to impact me today.
We have respected and loved very much our Brother Hammond. We both remember him being there when we graduated from Elim. He was a strong influnce in our lives. Much love to his family!
Pastor Stanley was not just my pastor, he was my mentor, my counselor,my spiritual adviser and a true friend,he knew how to help in time of need. I shall always admire and respect the legacy that he has left behind. Pastor Stanley was truly a man of God.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
Sincerely,
Dawn Pelman
Dear Liz and Earl,
We are so very sorry to hear of the loss of your Father.
Please know our thoughts are with you! Our condolences.
Dear Family and Friends of Stanley Hammond,
The Elim Bible Institute’s Board of Directors, Faculty, Staff and Students were saddened by the news of the passing of our beloved friend and brother, Stanley Hammond. Truly, because of his love for His Lord, this was a promotion he was not afraid to face.
When Stanley returned home to Canada in the early 1950’s, after years of missionary service, he became a regular visitor to the Elim campus. For many years he was able to speak into the Elim Board of Director’s for he served as a Trustee. Through the years each class of students would be introduced to this genuine prophet of the Lord. His unique presentation, combined with his strong prophetic gift, blessed hundreds of students who are all indebted to him for the ministry of impartation they received. The words given gave the students direction and by the laying on of hands, they received a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit to fulfill the call of God on their lives.
I, for one, always appreciated his genuine love for students being trained for service. His humble manner never allowed his gift to elevate him above those he served which made both students, faculty and staff at home in his presence. Truly Elim has lost a Spiritual compass and anchor.
We are grateful for the dedication of this man of God who touched us all.
Our prayers and blessings are sent to his family on this occasion.
Forever grateful,
Rev. Paul Johansson,
Chancellor
Elim Bible Institute
Earth’s loss is heaven’s gain!
Stanley was not only our mentor but a true friend. Our daughter Julie called him “poppa”. During our 17 years in Brazil as missionaries he wrote to us every single week. His prophetic word was second to none. I had the honour to publish his book on prophecy called “Seek That Ye May Excel”. Besides his spiritual prowess he demonstrated a unique sense of humour. He will be missed in a big way. Our sincere condolences to David & Karen, Liz & Earl and the whole family.
I remember a song Pastor Hammond used to sing at Castlefield:
The time to be happy is now.
The place to be happy is here.
And the way to be happy
Is to make someone happy
And we’ll have a little heaven right here
Because, God loves you and I love you
And that’s the way it should be.
Because, God loves you and I love you
And that’s the way it should be.
Through your life as a Sheppard I learned what heaven on earth could be like.
I am truly blessed to have known Ps. H. I love him dearly and look forward to reminiscing with both Evelyn and him soon.
Our thoughts are with you David and Liz and all those who will be so impacted by this loss.

An amazing man, with an amazing legacy. Privileged to have known him.
Heaven must be rejoicing to see this dear man come home to be with the Lord. My husband and I were blessed by Rev. Hammonds prophetic words over us which we are stil experiencing today! Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, may God console you and give you His peace.
” AGAPE brother” My smile is strong remembering the old days at Castlefield and especially the thought of you walking around heaven, young again. Blessings, Terry
Thanks for your friendship and kindness to me and my family. We have loved you and are saddened that we will not see you in this life. But rejoice that you have joined heaven’s orchestra, having first chair in the violin section. Play on, Stanley, play on!
My thoughts are with the family and pray God’s blessings for you all. Thank you Lord for this Brother that shared your love!
Stanley ministered in our church 22 times between 1988 and 2009. He became a trusted friend and highly regarded prophet and minister in our midst. We loved his music and his humor as well. I’ve never known anyone else who was so fluent in using his vast knowledge of vocabulary! I called him more than once when transcribing his messages to “get the right word” he’d used. He is greatly loved and will be missed. May you treasure your memories as we all wait for our reunion some glorious day.
I will always remember Ps. Hammond as a great preacher and also a wonderful violin player. I used to enjoy his playing at conventions at the Castlefield church in Toronto. He, along with the other great pastors of the Apostolic Church will be missed. Their ministry and dedication to the church were unsurpassed and their depth of Apostolic teaching will be remembered for years to come. You have earned your reward.
I am an Elim Bible Insitute Graduate in Rochester NY. I just wanted to say that I know Rev. Stanley was a tremendous blessing to many in the student body as He shared from the Lord’s heart to students there. What an incredible legacy and example of what it means to follow & honor God with our lives. He is rejoicing with our Beloved Savior!!! Praise the Lord! May God comfort your family as you grieve his loss.
Your sister,
Krista
My prayers and thoughts are with the family as you go through this time of loss. I will always remember Rev. Hammond as he would come to my church in NY and minister. He was a blessing to so many in my church and the prophetic words that the Lord gave him were so encouraging!! He will be missed by the body of Christ! To his children thank you for sharing your father with us! May the Lord comfort you at this time! Blessing and grace!
Pastor Hammond was a great man, always had a word of encouragement and care! wisdom and blessings he always exuded to myself and Daniel and Joshua when his pastoral leadership was at Castlefield ! God bless the family !!
Brother Stanley’s testimony as a believer and imparter of God’s prophetic word, His written word,His love, mercy and grace, is wonderful and an enormous encouragement to those of us who are still on this earth to be light and salt. May the Lord’s love, peace and joy fill all of his family and may His grace abound in all of your lives. With every blessings in Christ to each one of you, Rita Sciallo (Elim missionary in Scotland)
I am a former faculty member of Elim Bible Institute (8/84-3/94). I was privileged to be prayed for by Bro. Stanley when we had a prophetic presbytery for staff members one December and I continually remember what he said as part of my life guidance and meaning. He had such a pastoral heart as well as clear insight and I am always grateful for my brief, life-changing contact with him. What a privilege for all of you who are his loved ones to know him well, and what a sad loss you must feel. But what a great gift it is to know he is just through the veil in that great cloud of witnesses and you will see him again! God comfort and strengthen you and bless you! Judy

Our dear brother was a delightful and witty man of God
with riches that this world could not hold. His humorist style of sharing his own wild dilemas where enjoyable and comforting to hear. He made one feel included rather than an outcast with allowing us into his personal highs and lows. He spoke prophetic words over us several times at our regional retreats that encourage and brought hope. We send our regrets that we couldn’t share these words with the family in person, yet shall truly miss Him and give you our condolences and prayers during your time of loss. God’s grace and peace, The Keerps
We love Stanley ! What a great inspiration to know him and share time with him it has been. We will cherish the memory of his sweet demeanor as expressed so clearly through his violin. Rest in peace in the arms of our Lord, Stanley.
