It is difficult putting into words our feelings of loss at the passing of our dear friend Reed. We have known Reed since he shared an apartment with John while at university in Waterloo. There were many special times over the years in many places across Canada, from Halifax to Victoria, but especially in London, Grand Bend, Ottawa, Morton’s Point Camp, and last summer in Turkey Point. We are lucky to have had Reed as a life-long friend. We will truly miss him.
To G.G., Kyle, Robin, Dalton, and Donna, please know that we are with you in spirit at this difficult time and take comfort in the realization that Reed is at peace.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Reed’s sudden passing.
A long time patient of Reed’s, I always enjoyed my visit to the “eye doctor”. Often our chats about fishing, golf and even local politics would cause the examination to get sidetracked and take longer than normal.
I’m going to miss those chats.
To Donna and family – my sincere sympathies.

Hi Robin
I am very sorry to hear that Reed died. I found out from my sister Helen. She was talking to a staff member who told he that he had just been called by his
Optometrist’s office to say that the Optometrist had died suddenly and so Helen asked who the Optometrist was and you know the rest. We are never ready to hear news like that. The Humane Society is a charity that I support so I will make a donation as a remembrance. I am sorry I didn’t make the funeral.

I only just learned of Reed’s passing when I called to make an appointment–something I had been putting off for several months–and was shocked and saddened to hear the news. Reed was just starting out and taking over the practice from his Dad when I came to London in the early 70’s and started seeing him for my eyecare. We were almost the same age and kind of ‘grew up’ concurrently. We had many interesting talks during my frequent visits to the office, on a variety of subjects. He was an interesting man who enjoyed his life, and a true caring professional. I always thought that I would have to find a new optometrist once he retired, but am so sorry it had to happen this way. It’s a lesson to us all to make every conversation count, with those who are in our lives in any manner, as we never know when it might be the last. My condolences to all of his family.
