Shirley,
I chatted with your mom a couple of times and she seemed a lovely person. Sincere condolences for you and your family’s loss.
We have fond reminiscences of “Mrs. Abrams”, and her amused tolerance of John’s friends and her wit in dealing with them. She will be missed. I have donated something to the Humane Society in her memory, and in memory of Bonnie and Clyde, with whom she remains forever linked in my mind.
Dear John, Shirley, and Carol-Lee,
I was so sad to read of your mom’s passing. I have such a clear picture of her in my mind as a vibrant, friendly woman, and I always enjoyed chatting with her. My sincere sympathy to you and all the family in your loss,
Frances Farmer
The University of Western Ontario is a better place because Maxine worked there. The Department of Philosophy and the Faculty of Arts were the chief beneficiaries of her warmth and intelligence. She was much-loved and will not be forgotten.
With admiration and affection,
