Ahh, so sad to hear of Wally’s passing. I work at the Byron Family Medical with Dr Sangster. He was always a joy to see and no matter how awful he may have felt, always put a smile on our faces. He was a joy to know, and will be missed alot.
Thanks a million Wally!!
Wally will be missed be all former and present friends from the Huron Shores Trailer Park.
I have been Wallys’ and Ruths’ delivery guy from shoppers for many many years. He was such a friendly man. He will be missed by many. GO TIGERS GO!!!!
Leslie, I was very saddened to read of your dad’s passing. I am glad that I was able to get the picture of the brick in his honour from Juno Beach a couple of years ago. I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. Warmly, Heather Henke
What a joy of man he was to be a friend of. We have lots of great memories of Wally and Ruth. Huron Shores Trailer Park has never been the same, for us, since Wally moved out. We were very happy to have been able to have a nice visit with him a short time ago while Wally was visiting with Sandy & Wayne. Wally will always have a place in our hearts.
Wally was always such a generous person. He would go without to be sure that others were taken care of.
You all have every reason to be exceptionally proud to call Wally dad, just as we are to call him our friend. He sure was a special person.
Dear Leslie & family:
Very sorry to hear about the loss of your father. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Take care of yourselves.

I am sorry to hear of the death of your father. My thoughts are with you. I lost my Dad this past year and so I know what you are going through. We never seem to be prepared for this. I hope you have many fond memories to carry you through this time. I am thinking of you.
Kenny, Denny, Lenny and families:
Please accept our sincere condolences in Wally’s death. Words are never adequate at times such as these but we are truly sorry that a good friend is no longer with us.
Wally was one of those great hometown kinda guys always with a story and a laugh. We had many good times together and in later years exchanging yarns about Windsor and London sports persons and teams that we played against. Also his Navy days and shipboard escapades.
And of course, he always got a charge out of telling anybody within earshot about “Fred” the horse that stomped on his foot en route to the Legion.
Wally was one of a kind. We’ll miss him and speaking for the Oldtimers Association members, I know they will too.
I regret that I will be unable to attend the service on Friday. Rest in peace old friend.
Sincerely
Bruce Huff

Dakin Family: Wally was a wonderful man who left memories with all who crossed his path. He and Jeff shared many good times together. My fondest memory they shared was the football game story. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Joan Clubb

Leslie,
So sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you. If you need anything let me know.
Dear Ken, Dennis, Lenny and Leslie and families, I am so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. I do not get the LFPress and rarely read it but tonight I was waiting in line and it was sitting there in a waiting area. Something made me take a minute and read it…I also went for a drive today and ended up near the Stratford area I was thinking about you Leslie and actually telling my daughter Brianna stories of you and I in school and how your Mom and Dad used to take me to your trailer, our roller skating days and on and on! I was just filled with joy telling her about you and your family. Brianna remembered your Dad from RMC when he spoke there for a Remembrance Day Ceremony. He touched so many people. I am so sorry I missed coming out today I would have been there had I known. You must be very proud of your Dad he was a great story teller and such a kind and caring man! I have lots of fond memories of him and all of you guys!
sincerely, Rene Lennox (Chipchase)
I am a neighbour of Wally’s who grew very fond of him. I learned too late of his passing and was unable to attend his funeral for which I’m so sorry. I feel I’ve missed a chance to recognize him in a special way.
His kindness first became very evident to me after I experienced a devastating fire and lost everything several years ago. It was awful and I was in financial duresss. Wally was one of the many kind neighbours who extended a helping hand. But what was noteable about him, was that he not only gave me one cheque to help out at the time of the fire, he also went on, several months later, to offer me a second cheque! At Christmas that year, he gave a box of cookies.
I was very touched by the generosity of this man who really didn’t know me at all, yet reached out to someone half his age.
Wally was truly exceptional.
His warm smile and gentlemanly ‘way’ was always a delight to encounter. He truly was a light in our homes here – our building at 550 Berkshire Drive. The darkness of his apartment now fills me with sadness as I walk by… it often brings tears until I remind myself that such a dear, kind, soul can only be closer to the Source of the love and light he was an example of.
Rest in peace dear Wally.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful self with us.
