“Ah, when shall day dawn on the night of the grave,
Or summer succeed to the winter of death?
Rest awhle, hapless victim! and Heaven will save
The spirit that hath faded away with the breath.”

Dear Shan & Family,
I’m sorry to hear about your loss. I’ve never been very good at knowing what to say in times like these, but there is a beautiful poem I once saw and I managed to find it on the internet, and will post it here. I hope that it can convey all that I wish to say. Shan, I wish I could be there with you to give you big hugs… just like you were there for me.
xoxo,
Jenn
COME WITH ME
The Lord saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be,
So He put his arms aroud you
And whispered, “Come with me.”
With tearful eyes, we watched you suffer
And saw you fade away,
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
A beautiful smile at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove
He only takes the best.
It’s lonesome here without you
We miss you so each day,
Our lives aren’t the same
Since you went away.
When days are sad and lonely,
And everything goes wrong,
We seem to hear you whisper,
“Cheer up and carry on.”
Each time we see your picture,
You seem to smile and say,
“Don’t cry, I’m in God’s keeping,
We’ll meet again someday.”

Aunt Dora,
I will always remember the summers that you and Uncle Art camped at Rockwood Park, the wonderful stories that Uncle Art told and the times we spent together. He will be always loved and missed.
Art:
It has indeed been my privledge to have had you for a father-in-law. I will miss dearly the many bottles of beer we shared over a ball or hockey game. The many stories you told I know by heart and will treasure them. As with all old soldiers may you rest in peace and be very proud of the honourable service you have given to Canada.
Rest now and enjoy a cold beer for me.
Paul
