To The Lawson Family:
Mr Lawson was my grade 10 math teacher at Riverdale Collegiate in 1950-51 and he made a lasting impression on me in that year. He instilled in me the self-convidence that I could do well and I still remember the elation that I experienced when I achieved an honours mark in Geometry. Mr Lawson had a quiet but firm control in the classroom and all of us respected him, co-operated with him and did our best as was not always the case in other classrooms.
All of the students knew that the new teachers on staff had been soldiers, airmen or in the navy but never did they reveal to us the experiences that they had gone through. We just looked upon them as handsome young teachers doing a job. Now almost 60 years later I wish that we could have expressed our appreciation to them for their contributions to the freedoms and prosperity we all enjoy.
May I express my deepest sympathy to you and your family. The world will miss a very fine teacher and person.
