John was a truely incredible man and im so fortunate i got to know him for 3 years.I only wish it could’ve been longer. He always knew how to make people smile. Even though i wasnt part of his family whenever i was around him i felt like i was, and jenn being like a sister to me i always felt like john was a second dad. He will be missed and never forgotten.
I knew John for over 35 years, and he was a great person to be around. I moved to Calgary 27 Years ago,but John and I always stayed in touch. Whenever I came home John and Grace would always have a party for me,and made me feel right at home. We golfed together(if you call what I do playing golf) and had some great times. You will be missed my friend. I will celebrate your life on Saturday.
John
The world will be a much sadder place with you not in it. So glad that I got to meet you & enjoy many good times over the years. Saddens me that we didn’t have the contact over the last few years that we had previously. My players are with you & your family. Do take care Friend!
I met John during my years at the CAS, but got to know him on the infamous bus trips to Tiger STadium. Those were fun times, and would never have been the same without John’s smiling face welcoming us onto the bus… John had the ability to make everyone feel loved, with his fabulous smile. My condolences to Grace and the kids. Know that to us, the world was a happier place with John in it, and we will all miss him.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Shelley
It goes without saying that John will be truly missed by all the lives he touched over the years. His humour and laughs will echo on for years to come. John you have left us here, but will never be forgotten. Until we meet again our friend.
In Memory of John Wira
On behalf of all current and former staff and Board Members at Big brothers of London,I wish to offer condolences to Grace, Kyle and Jennifer, and to all of John’s family members on his passing on April 6, 2008.
John volunteered at our agency for 23 years. He was a Big Brother to Michael for 6 years in the 80’s, and their friendship continued long after this.
John joined the agency Board of Directors in 1990, and continued to serve in this capacity for the next 17 years. His contributions included terms as Treasurer and Vice President.
But most of John’s friends at Big Brothers will remember his contributions at numerous agency fundraising activities over the years.
At our Bowling event he was never without a roll of 50/50 tickets in hand; at Million Dollar Swing he charmed golfers into buying just one more bucket of balls; and of course, he was affectionately nicknamed “Mr. Bingo” since he rarely missed one of these events and was always a source of entertainment for other volunteers!
His ever smiling face and warm personality reflected the nature of this very caring and very giving human being. We will truly miss our friend, John.
We remember fondly the times we were all together for the Derby and Oktoberfest. John made many people laugh and you always had a great time when he was there. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, relatives and many friends.
We did not get the chance to know John for as long as we would have liked. Life always has away of changing our plans.
He was a remarkable man who never ceased to put a smile on everyones face whenever he was in their presence.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the family.
Thanks for allowing us to be a part of your life John. We will truly miss your smiling face and funny wit.
Dear Grace, Kyle and Jennifer,
Please accept our condolences during this difficult time. May you find peace and love in the memories you cherish.

Hello All,
John and Grace have been dear friends of our parents for many years. We were lucky enough to spend time with the family in Massachusetts and St. Maarten. Each year our parents would come home from the island with great stories which created laughter for all of us that tears would roll down their faces. Justin and I were lucky enough to spend time with John and Grace not too long ago. In that trip, they had brought hockey jerseys for our two boys. When they wear them we will always think of who they represent with warm thoughts and a smile. We feel very fortunate to have been able to spend that time as well as others with John and Grace. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. John will be greatly missed as he was dear to so many.
Sincerely,
Cara and Justin Morine
To Everyone,
In all of the times I got to spend with John, mostly as a kid while John was visiting my parents in Massachusetts, I cannot remember a time when John was not smiling. To this day, when I think of John, I remember one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, and always with a smile on his face. John always asked about me about how hockey was going, and really cared enough to listen. I know that John was truly one of my parents closest friends, and they will forever be blessed with having known him, and spent so much quality time with him. I’ll never forget him saying that he drove a Zed 28; my first introduction to that crazy Canadian language. My condolences to Grace and his entire family. Love – Adam
Sonny and I are saddened by the news of Johns death. We have great memories of our times together in Canada and Kentucky.
Grace you and your family are in our prayers.
We want to extend our sincere sympathy to Grace and the family and friends of John. You are in our hearts and prayers.
We fondly remember the fun and laughter John brought to Louisville at Derby time and to the Oktoberfests there in Canada.
We are happy to have known him. And know he will be missed by all he knew.
I was so sad to hear of the loss of John. I worked with John at the CAS for over 10 years and have nothing but fond memories of him. Baseball tournaments, bus trips to Detroit, bowling fund raisers, his quick wit and non stop grin come to mind. My deepest sympathy to the family. He was a great man who will be missed by many. Take care.
I had the pleasure of knowing John and working with him since he started at the CAS back in the late 60’s. His positive attitude and great personalily resulted in his being a most likeable peron by everyone. I will cherish my memories of John and I offer my sincerest sympathies to his wife, children and other family members.
I’ll remember John for his generous heart, his wonderful sense of humour and his willingness to give of his time to help make the world a better place. My very sincere condolences to John’s family. He will be missed by many.
