Obituary
SMITH, Velma
Peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family on December 1, 2023. She is now reunited with her husband Jack (2020). She was an amazing mom to her daughters Karen (Mike), Darlene (Darcy) and Cathy (Lee). Wonderful Grandma to Sean (Louise), Jessica (Andrea), Jake (Ashley), Peyton (Chase), Alyssa (Trevor), Hailey (Tom). Adoring GG to Rya, Katie, Logan and Lanie. Proud big sister to Rose and Mary (2008). Loving Aunt to Susan, Doug, Janice, Sheila, Dave, Richard and Darrell. Velma loved life! She was up for any adventure. She loved her family and friends, always going out of her way to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves. Her cookie tin was always filled with her delicious homemade cookies and she loved to enjoy a glass of wine with family and friends. Velma was an active member of St Mark’s Anglican Church, Lifetime member of the Home & School Association and enjoyed weekly outings to the Dorchester VON day program. We know her husband, Jack is happy to have her back in his arms again. Visitation will be held at A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London on Sunday, December 10, 2-4 pm and 6-8pm. There will be a private graveside service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Make a Wish or Childcan would be appreciated as these organizations were close to Velma’s heart. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com

Our heart felt sympathy on the loss of Velma, she was such a special person, her laughter and sense of fun was so amazing. Her family was everything to her, and her energy for relationships and love was so outstanding. We will all miss her terribly, Velma was truly one of a kind and an inspiration to all who knew her.
Velma was a great lady and wonderful friend. Her butter tarts were the best. She always had a way to make you feel so important. Her smile and little twitter were awesome. It was a privilege to have been her friend. I will really miss her.
Velma and I worked together for Prince Charles Home and School as well as at St Mark’s Anglican Church. She was a joy to be with, always happy and uplifting. Her family was her treasure and she cherished them dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with them all at this time.
Velma and Jack were my neighbours for 47 years. My children grew up with their oldest grandchild. The loss of Jack was a very sad time. Losing Velma will forever change the face of our community. She was an inspiration. I marveled at her energy and commitment to maintaining an active lifestyle. I will miss seeing her pass by my window each morning, as she headed down the street for her daily walk.
To Velma’s family and her beloved friends at St Marks I am so sorry for your loss. She was a gem and a gift. Always smiling and a ray of sunshine. She loved life and will be missed by all who knew her.
We are saddened at this difficult time. Our family loved Velma and Jack deeply like our own family. They both will be deeply missed. Our heart is broken 💔 they both excepted our family like theirs.
Our deepest condolences on the loss of Velma. We always enjoyed visiting with her
