Peacefully with family by his side after a valiant struggle with cancer at Victoria Hospital, on Thursday, December 18, 2008 Terrance “Terry” Calhoun of London at age 75. Best pal to “Buddy”. Beloved cousin of Fran and Ron Calhoun of Thamesford, Ernie Rowley and Sandy Stevenson of Owen Sound. Also survived by many devoted cousins and relatives in the London area. Terry will be sadly missed by a host of good friends in British Columbia and friends and neighbours in the London area. Loving son of the late Alfred and Elsie Calhoun. Terry was a very spiritual person and embraced life to the fullest. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 7-9pm on Sunday at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London where the funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Monday, December 22nd at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Cordell Parsons officiating. Cremation with interment will take place in the spring in Woodland Cemetery, London. Terry familiarized me as a locomotive Engineer when I arrived in Williams Lake in 1995. I can certainly attest to him being among the finest people that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. He is truly the type of individual a person never forgets.

I had the pleasure of working many times with Terry on freight trains out of Williams Lake, BC twelve years ago.
He was an “old school” hogger who set a fine example of dignity and high standards for doing your duty for new young trainmen to strive for.
Terry, you were a cool hand at the throttle and will be missed by all who knew you. I hope you had a great 75th birthday party. It was good to talk to you one last time.

I was told of the passing of “Uncle Terry” from my Mom Sarah Tennant a few days ago. My sister Tracy and I spent some joyful times with Uncle Terry and Aunt May in Willowdale and in cottage country. With no kids of his own he embraced Tracy and I when we first arrived in Canada from Scotland with our Mom and Dad in 1965! My fondest memory is him chasing my sister who was then 3 around the kitchen with a shaving cream dispenser-and pretending to shave her.
I will always treasure those memories of dear uncle Terry!
