Peacefully with family by his side at Victoria Hospital on Saturday, March 21, 2009 Wubbo “Bill” Uil in his 76th year. Loving brother to Grace Bakelaar. Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews; Jane Keitel, Joanne Davies and husband Dave, Cathy Semler and husband Tom, Wilma VanderHeide and husband Charles and Margaret Bakelaar and Pierre Dufour. Great nieces and nephews; Shawn Davies and wife Jennifer, Melissa Davies, Joanna Zischler and husband Juergen, Joshua Keitel and Vicki Moran, Michelle Semler, Rachel Semler, Adam VanderHeide, Robin VanderHeide and Samuel VanderHeide. Great-Great neice and nephew Ellie Davies and Zackary Zischler. Predeceased by his parents Menno and Jantje Uil, brother-in-law Peter Bakelaar and nephew John Bakelaar. Wubbo’s family would like to extend sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Victoria Hospital. Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9pm Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, where the funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 1:00pm. Interment in Woodland Cemetery, London. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society 123 St. George Street, London, ON N6A 3A1 or to charity of choice. Online condolences accepted at www.amgfh.com

“He laid there waiting for his time to come. Never was there a complaint or a moan, not wanting to show his pain”.
“There were always angels there by his side, day and night. The love, admiration and respect in their eyes kept him from leaving”.
“He was always gracious and humble, not wanting it to be this way. Every once and awhile he smiled, it lit up the room and those around”.
“There was such an air of class about this man as he tried to hide the fear. Courageously waiting for that heaven as he dreamed it would exist”.
“He’s now cross through the gates, his life whole and spring has arrived, on to another journey, adventure and another time. He lived through times most of us didn’t”.
“It was an honor and privilege to know this man, I didn’t know him long, but in his final days he left me a subtle reminder”.
“The most important things in ones life are always those angels by your side. And oh yea, never forget always make your next smile larger than your last”.

Dear family,
Our deepest condolences.
Even we knew Wubbo not so well, we will remember him as a nice guy. He frequently wrote a letter to our parents. (Lammy’s mother Menje is a sister of Menno).
In those letters (our parents always showed proudly his letters to us) he wrote about his all day life and showed his respect for his uncle and aunt from Holland.
For our parents he described in his letters (in which he totally unnecessary apologized for his ‘poor’ Dutch) his activities in the garden, his fishing boat, his hunting parties and the BBQ’s. Our parents visited Menno and Wubbo after they got retired. Reading every new year what he wrote, they could remember their marvelous time in London, being their gests. He was a lovable guide and made them feel comfortable during their stay in Canada.
Almost ten years ago we also visited Menno and Wubbo. We made a trip by camper through Ontario. We were impressed by their hospitality.
May he rest in peace.
