GIBSON, Don…..
Surrounded by his family at his residence on Sunday, April 26, 2009, Donald “Don” Gibson of London in his 75th year. Beloved husband of the late Mirena(Lake) Gibson (1995). Loving father of Sue McKay and her husband Doug of London, Karen Devine and her husband Jeff of Ailsa Craig, Cathy Matheson and her husband Doug of Wardsville and Jenny Shears and her husband Andy of Cambridge. Predeceased by his daughter Christine Watson and his twin brother Richard Gibson.
Greatly missed grandfather of Kate, Sarah, James, Nic, Zack, Dylan, Alex, Maddison, Lauren and Kirsten. Also missed by his nieces and nephews. Dear father-in-law of Kent Watson (Maureen) of Owen Sound. The family would like to thank VON nurses; Pauline, P.J., Marilyn and Jasmin for their care and compassion. Friends will be received by the family from 7-9pm Thursday, April 30, 2009, at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The celebration of Don’s life will be held at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, 600 Lawson, Road (at Wonderland Road North), on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 10:30am with Reverend Elina Salonen officiating. Interment in Oakland of Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses (VON), 1151 Florence Street, Suite 100, London ON N5W 2M7. My deepest condolences to Don’s family. I first met Don when I started working in Pathology at UWO when I was only 19. I could always count on Don to make me smile, he was quite the jokester. He will be missed.
I would like to extend my sympathies to Don’s family. I knew Don while he worked at UWO. His good natured demeanor made the workplace more enjoyable. Our paths crossed several times after he retired, the brief conversations we had belied the fact that many years had passed.
