Obituary
CRAIG, Edith……
Edith Craig passed away peacefully in her 90th year on August 20, 2012 at Extendicare London. Edith is survived by her two sons, Donald (Margaret) and Neil (Anne) and her granddaughter Lauren (Richard) and grandson Sandy. She is also survived by her brother John Thomson in England and is predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Jack (1989). Edith lived a long and fascinating life. She was born and raised in Aberdeenshire, Scotland and did active service in the British Army during World War II. Following the war she shepherded two boys, a dog and all of the family’s possessions across the Atlantic to begin a new life in Canada. Edith had a lifelong interest in all things plant related and was an exceptional flower arranger and judge. She was a President and Honorary Member of the Garden Club of London. Despite advancing years and failing eyesight she continued teaching and showing competitive arrangements until just prior to her death. She was especially proud of the Silver award she received representing Canada in the 1993 World Flower Show and of the recent acknowledgment of her lifetime service by the Garden Clubs of Ontario. A memorial service will be held at Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church, 111 Elmwood Avenue, London at 11 am, on Friday, September 21, 2012 with Reverend Kevin Steeper Officiating. Elmwood was the church which she attended with great pleasure and where she had arranged the Sunday service flowers for over 30 years. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service with reception to follow. Special thanks to Dr. Jo-Anne Hammond and her team for providing 25 years of outstanding health care. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, 150-633 Colborne Street, London, ON N6B 2V3, would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the A. Millard George Funeral Home, London 519-433-5184. Online condolences, memories and pictures shared at www.amgfh.com

Edith will be missed by many. I worked with Edith at the Royal Doulton Store and she taught me everything I know about dinnerware and her personal favourite, Royal Crown Derby. She made us all laugh at some of her antics and British sayings. She could whip up a beautiful display for the front window with such ease. I have so many fond memories of Edith and I am so very
sorry for your loss.

I will miss Edith’s kindness in sharing her floral design knowledge with me and with our St. Thomas Horticultural Society.
With deepest sympathy to her family,

I’m so sorry to hear of Edith’s passing. She was such a wonderful lady who always had a smile and words of encouragement. She will be greatly missed at Elmwood. Seeing the flowers at the front of the church will always remind me of Edith.
Memories live on.

She was a lovely lady to share a cup of tea with or a piece of pie and I admired her greatly. Heart felt condolences to her family.
I was very sorry to read about EDITH,we worked togeather at Royal Doulton. She trained me and gave me lots of helpful hints. In later years she would take a cab to the mall. When she was done shopping, she would stop in to say hi and call her a cab to go back hone. She was a lovely lady.
Edith was a very talented and creative floral designer. Her kindness and willingness to share will always be remembered.
Rest in Peace in God’s Garden.
Dear Neil, Anne, Lauren and Sandy
