Obituary
HAHN, William Chester Jacob “Bill” – of London passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at University Hospital in his 98th year. Beloved husband of the late Jean Hahn (2013). Loving father of Alan (Sandi), and Bob (Margo). Much loved grandfather of Emma, Matt, Amanda (Mike) and Sara and great grandfather of Chloe and Connor in Winnipeg. Predeceased by his eleven older siblings. Bill was born January 1, 1917 and raised in Toronto where he met and married Jean in 1942. Dad worked at CN Rail in Toronto for almost 40 years before retiring to Guelph with Mom. He loved time spent with family and friends, fishing and gardening. Dad loved to be busy; there was always a project on the go. He never lost his sense of humour and delighted us with his stories that were uniquely Dad. Dad was proud of us all and we were proud to call him Dad and Grandpa. Cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service on Tuesday June 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London, ON. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the London Food Bank, 926 Leathorne Street, London, ON N5Z 3M5 or the charity of your choice. A. We are extremely saddened to learn of Bill’s passing. We very much enjoyed being in Bill’s presence – he always brought a smile to our faces. He was a fine gentleman. I’m glad we had a chance to see him recently. Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. May Bill now Rest In Peace and be reunited with Jean. ~ Serena Moro on behalf of everyone at Brian Kyle’s office.
Bob Our deepest sympathy
Bob Margo and family:
My deepest sympathies on the death of your father and grandfather. May many good memories help you through this time.
My father was Wilfred Hahn, Bill’s oldest brother. Bill left a message on my telephone over Easter. He was going to leave his telephone no. but time on the tape ran out. Do you know why he was trying to reach me? It may have been in connection with the Hahn family tree. I am so sorry to hear that he has passed away. My sincere sympathy to all your family.
We have fond memories of Bill,in particular at Bob,s CGA grad dinner.Bill and Jean were so proud of their son.
I loved Uncle Bill with all my heart. I am so thankful my daughters Michelle and Jodie were with me to spend time with him Easter weekend.
He always had great family stories to tell.
My sincere condolences.
