Passed away at his residence on Monday, April 25, 2016 at the age of 68. Beloved husband of Darlene. Loving father of Tiffany (Josh) , and Amanda (Josh). Cherished grandfather of Gabriella and Olivia. Friends will be received by the family at A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridouts Street, South, London, ON, on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 9-11am where the service will be held at 11am. Cremation has taken place. When I was in high school I was good friends Rick’s daughter Tiffany. Rick was always so welcoming when I would come over to hang out. I remember when I had gotten my drivers licence and I drove my dads van to London to visit with Tiffany and Rick came out an inspected the van and gave me instructions and helpful feedback regarding driving. I laughed it off, but as I grew older I realized it was his way of saying he wanted his daughter safe and letting me know that he cared about his daughter’s friend.
I remember when I come by to hang out with Tiffany he would keep us waiting telling us stories from the news or the neighbourhood and when we would leave he would always hug and kiss his daughter goodbye and before I could turn around to leave he always made sure to hug me as well.
It has been many years since I have seen Rick, and I have lost contact with Tiffany, but those are such strong memories from my youth. Rick and Darlene gave me an idea as to what a two parent household was like. They both always made me feel welcome in their home.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain and sorrow this has brought on.
Amanda, I was so very sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved father. May the wonderful memories you and you family share of him help you through this difficult time.

You can shed tears that he is gone or you can smile because he has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left. Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him or you can be full of the love that you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember him and only that he is gone or you can cherish his memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on. You can shed tears that he is gone or you can smile because he has lived.
