Obituary
McCLEAN, Mervyn…. Peacefully at University Hospital with his wife, children, brothers, sisters and friends by his side, on Friday, August 26, 2016, Mervyn “Mac” Ignatius McClean in his 76th year. Beloved husband of Carol Ann McClean (nee Seales) for 49 years. Loving father of Michelle and Jeremie “Jay” . Cherished Papa of TaliaRose. Dear brother of Iva & Wilfred (Canada), Russell, Deborah, Clivia (USA), Janice and Kenneth (Trinidad & Tobago). Predeceased by his parents Alfred McClean & Olive Agata McClean (nee Knights). He’s an uncle, cousin, god-father, brother-in-law to the respective spouses and last but not least, is a dear dear friend to Lucille, Narine, Derrick and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Goodge. Respecting all religions throughout his lifetime; Mac gave his life over to Jesus. He was a true believer and felt that as long as you do good deeds and are a good person you will be blessed. Mac also believed that education in all forms leads us to a better understanding of the universe. After leaving Trinidad, Mac attended Oxford University for his undergrad, then University of Western Ontario for post-graduate degrees, worked as an engineer for CN Rail out of Sarnia, taught math at Beal Secondary School then found his career home working for the City of London-Dearness Home focusing on geriatrics and of course his passion, union leader. The family would like to thank London Health Sciences Centre-MSICU unit staff with a special mention to Cathy Mawdsley, Clinical Nurse Specialist for helping Mac participate in his sons wedding on August 6th and Daniella Betteto, RN for taking care of our family during his last moments before entering into his next life. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 1 pm, with Reverend Junior Sorzano officiating. Interment in Woodland Cemetery, London at a later date. I was the Recording Secretary of the London and District Service Worker’s Union, Local 220, for many years, during the time that Mac was the Chairperson at Dearness Home. I always remember his smile, his laugh, his fierce commitment to his fellow Union members and his passion for human rights. I will remember him with fondness.
Condolences to all of Macs family with heartfelt respect and memories of shared time at Dearness full of laughter ‘ lectures ‘and great support.

My deepest sympathy to your family and friends. You will be missed by so many friends at the Fitness Centre at Parkwood. A day did not go by without someone asking me about your absence. You are such a wonderful person who loved to talk and share your knowledge, a very intelligent man. Everyone loved talking to you and listening to your perspective on life. I am sure everyone at the Fitness Centre learned something from you. God Bless You,
Love Eleanor & Kari & Your Friends at the Fitness Centre
My sincere condolences to the entire family.
