“They are not long, the weeping and the laughter,
Love and desire and hate;
I think they have no portion in us after
We pass the gate.
They are not long, the days of wine and roses:
Out of a misty dream
Our path emerges for a while, then closes
Within a dream.” – Ernest Dowson

Ruth and John Gordon were lifelong friends of my wife’s parents. I got to know them after moving to Canada from England. Lovely lady. Lovely man. My parents and my late brother and his wife spent a little time at the Gordon’s cottage near Ottawa many years back. Abiding memories. A welcoming and loving person. So long Ruth.
Aunt Ruth and Uncle John were such an exciting part of my childhood. Stopping in to stay with us and talk of their trips worldwide and of life in Ottawa. Visits to see them at beautiful Treetops. Learning about wildlife, nature and Canada’s rich northern heritage. I wanted to be just like Aunt Ruth as I grew up.
She is at peace now with Uncle John. They will both be forever in my heart.
Goodbye dear friend of 80 years. We have many memories of wonderful trips and visits that I will always treasure,
Rest in peace.
love Audrey

I have many special memories of Aunt Ruth, my Mom’s lifelong friend. Especially treasured are the visits we had with Ruth and John at their cottage, Treetops. She was a lovely lady.

Ruth and John Gordon were extremely kind and generous friends of my Mom and Dad. We have fond memories growing up singing songs, telling jokes and being loved by our parents oldest friends. They will always have a place in the Fox family hearts, kids, grandchildren all left with special memories. They will truly be missed and were deeply loved! Now Ruth is together with dear old John. Reunited and singing bobbles, bangles and beads! Love and miss you both dearly! K&H xox
