Obituary
Margaret Elizabeth Lane… 12 July 1924 – 14th March 2018
Surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, 14th March, 2018, Betty passed away in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Lane (2015), dear mother of Daniel Lane and his wife Judy (London) and Kerry and the late Robert Shellard (1990) (England), sister to May and Ken Robbins (Winnipeg) and the late John Rothnie. Loved very much by her grandchildren, Katie, Krista, Daniel (Gabriella) and Craig. Betty was born in Hartney, Manitoba to parents Lillian and John Rothnie. She left home aged 18 to join the Women’s Royal Naval Services and was stationed at Shelburne, Nova Scotia. There she met her best friend and husband Ken. The couple returned to London, ON where they raised their two children. Betty’s home was always the heart of the family. She was extremely caring, generous and genuine, and touched us all with her no nonsense kindness. She had a passion for sports, especially the London Knights. She was known for her creative talents both in the kitchen and on her sewing machine, and she loved her garden and all the creatures in it. Betty was admired for her strength and brilliant sense of humour that kept us laughing until the end. She will be sorely missed. At Betty’s request cremation has taken place, with no visitation or formal funeral. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Betty’s favourite charity Jesse’s Journey, 195 Dufferin Avenue, London, ON N6A 1K7. Arrangements entrusted with A. Millard George Funeral Home, 519-433-5184. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com

Sorry for your loss, your Mom was truly a genuine, loving person. Perhaps our Moms’ will be enjoying a round of golf soon. Bonny
Sorry for your loss Dan, Judy and Kerry. I have very fond memories of your Mom, from long ago when we were kids. A real lady.
Although I didn’t know your mother Dan, I’m sure that she had a good life and was a fine woman. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully we can cross paths soon.
