Obituary
CORNISH, Carman …
Carman passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 14, 2019 in his 92nd year. Loving husband of Betty for over 67 years – “To have and to hold”. Proud father of Geoffrey, Carol (Robert Salmon), Roger (Patricia), Sally (Chandran Chelladurai) and Wendy Reed. Carman will also be missed dearly by his grandchildren Charlie, Eleanor, Sandi, Dean, Jasmin, Lindsay, Gregory, Daniel, Andrew, Michelle, Jillian and Joel, and great grandchildren Jacob, Ella, Ainsley, Sadie, Claire and Abigail. Carman was one of 10 children and is survived by his sisters Audrey Gray and Marjorie Vickers. Carman was an elementary school teacher and principal with the London Board of Education where his quiet, competent manner made a positive difference in so many students’ and colleagues’ lives. Carm and Betty spent many summers taking their family (5 kids, dog and cat) on camping adventures all across Canada. After his retirement Carm enjoyed even more time doing what he loved: playing and watching sports (especially hockey, curling, baseball and golf), photography and fishing on Georgian Bay. Most of all he cherished time with his grandchildren. Carman had a strong Christian faith and has been an active member of his church for many years. Please join us for a Celebration of Carm’s Life on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church, 111 Elmwood Avenue East, London. A time of remembrance and refreshments will follow. In remembrance of Carman, please reach out to someone you cherish, express your love and spend special time together. Arrangements entrusted with A. Millard George Funeral Home, 519-433-5184. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com

I am sorry to hear of the passing of my friend Rogers dad Carman. My condolences go out to Roger and his family Grant.
Wendy and family,
Your Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa sounds like a man who loved family and loved time spent with you. Even though he chose a career that would make a difference in the lives of many children, he probably would say that his greatest accomplishment in life, was all of you. I’m sure he will be greatly missed.

Mr. Cornish was my very first Principal and he was great. Being young, at 20, he was understanding, but also, firm in his beliefs about the importance of setting great examples for our students, and I definitely learned a lot from his guidance, his professionalism, and his work ethic. He was definitely an asset to me, but, also, to the students and the new community of Chippewa P.S. He will be missed.
When our family came to Canada in 1966, Mr. Cornish was instrumental in helping me adjust to the new schooling, something which I have always cherished. Thank you Mr. Cornish and my condolences to the family in your loss of a very special man.
I have so many very special memories of Mr. C and many summers at the cottage. I can still see his face when Wendy had to tell him about the rock we hit. I still treasure the many fishing skills he passed along. I learned from the best. That laugh will always be with me. My love and condolences to all the Cornish clan.
Dear Betty and family. I was very sad to learn of Carman’s death. We shared many “water walking” mornings at the “Y”. He was true gentleman. I have missed his travel tales and friendly chat in the “hot tub” too. Please accept my sincere sympathy and God Bless.
