Obituary
OGILVIE, Gladys (nee Davidson)….
Gladys Ogilvie (nee Davidson) of London, ON, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the Parkwood Institute enfolded in the love of her family. She was the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (nee Waddington) Davidson of Hamilton, ON. Beloved wife (for almost 60 years) of the late Rev. David G. Ogilvie, with whom she shared richly in ministry to Baptist churches in Ontario and Quebec. Loving mother to David (Kim) Ogilvie, Burlington, ON; Susan (Ralph) Weber, Elmira, ON; Bonnie (Joel) Vivian, Sarnia, ON; Robert (Bonnie) Ogilvie, Calgary, AB; and Glenn (Ami) Ogilvie, Woodstock, ON; and fun-loving “Grandma” to 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Gladys is survived by her brother, David Davidson, Beamsville, ON, and predeceased by her sister, Evelyn Connor, Peterborough, ON; and sister-in-law Jean Ogilvie, Hamilton, ON. She is loved and dearly missed by family in Australia, church families among whom she served as well as her Westview Baptist Church family, former neighbours at Zerin Place, sister Baptist ministers’ wives, clowning colleagues, and countless trusted friends. She and her alter ego, “Cheerio,” were known to bring smiles to the faces and hearts of children of all ages. Gladys saw everyone as her “pal,” and she will be remembered for her deep Christian faith, her genuine and generous spirit, her love of travel and adventure, the twinkle in her eye, her zest for life that was truly infectious, and her fondness for banana splits.
Her family is grateful for all those who selflessly supported Gladys and cared for her during her four-year struggle with leukemia, especially those at the Victoria Hospital Cancer Centre, staff in the Palliative Care Wards at Victoria Hospital and Parkwood, as well as neighbours and friends. A private family committal has taken place at Stenabaugh Cemetery, Jerseyville, ON. A public celebration of Gladys’ life will be held at Westview Baptist Church, London at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Westview Baptist Church, 1000 Wonderland Road South, London, ON N6K 3S4, Canadian Baptist Ministries, 7185 Millcreek Drive, Mississauga, ON L5N 5R4 or the Canadian Cancer Society, PO Box 640, STN K, Toronto, ON M4P 9Z9. I am so sorry to hear of Gladys’ passing but happy that she is out of pain and home with the Lord. She will be truly missed with her
effervescent smile and warm, loving demeanor.
I don’t think I ever saw Dear Gladys without a smile on her face. She just kept plugging along, no matter what trial she was facing. I’m so happy that she is now with David and has no earthly cares.
Dear Gladys was such a ” Special Lady” that all who knew her have a deep sadness at her loss.
Glenn,

My sincere sympathies on the loss of your Mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Gladys was such a positive force in this world and she will be sorely missed. Her kindness in word and deed is a wonderful legacy and she touched so many of us deeply with her love.
Dear Bonnie & Joel and family,
We were so saddened to hear of your moms passing. Knowing that she’s gone on to heaven and walking on the streets of gold with Jesus and her loved ones must bring you joy. We pray for strength and comfort at this time.
Love Harriet & Mike
Thought the world of Gladys. When she was living in Arkona, she taught lessons in ceramics and I learned so much from her, while having fun. She had an orange kitten at one point who would spend the whole class sitting on my knee purring.
Gladys was an exceptionally kind and gentle lady; she will always fondly be remembered.
Dear friend may God bless you.
