WILSON.. Reverend Robert “Bob”
TO GOD BE THE GLORY
Reverend Robert Wilson went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 13, 2021, in his 92rd year. He was welcomed by his beloved wife, Martha (Hutchison) Wilson. Cherished father of Dr. Paul and Yvonne Wilson of Cambridge, Ontario and Dr. Jeannie Wilson of Elmvale, Ontario. Faithful preacher, teacher and counsellor to congregations in Toronto, ON, Victoria, BC, Burlington, ON and London, ON.
Bob Wilson graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1955, married Martha Hutchison the next day, began ministry as Senior Pastor of Dovercourt Road Baptist Church in Toronto three months later and had his first child, Paul, eleven months after he married. This is not the life plan timing he expected or would recommend, but God was faithful. Forty-two years, one daughter: Jeannie, one daughter-in-law: Yvonne, and four churches later, Pastor Wilson retired to care full time for Martha as she battled Alzheimer’s Disease.
Reverend Wilson was a master teacher of God’s word who lived the truth he taught: I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes Romans 1:16a. Many people sought him out, knowing that his answers to their questions were based on a lifetime steeped in scripture. In ministry and in life, Bob Wilson exemplified Dallas Theological Seminary’s motto: Teach truth. Love well.

With appreciation for Pastor Wilson’s investment of time and teaching for us as young people many years ago.
We are so sorry to hear the news, but so happy that he is at home in heaven. Such a learned and godly man, appreciated by so many.
He was a wonderful influence on me during my teen years. His quiet, gentle, Christ-like manner with a twinkle in his eye and a little smile spoke volumes of how one should live their life in service to our Saviour and Lord and to his family and friends. I’m sure he has already heard the welcomed words “Well done thou good and faithful servant!” We will see you again. PTL!
Bob was our first pastor and life-long mentor and dear friend. We have managed to visit and stay connected from Victoria to Burlington and back to London. Nothing but very positive memories and we’re rejoicing in his sure presence with Jesus. Comfort and blessing to Paul, Jeannie and Yvonne.
Rev. Wilson’s ministry, and the kindness of his wife Martha, are valued memories of my teen years. My condolences to the family.
Very sad to hear of the passing of Bob Wilson whose ministry was invaluable to our family at Wortley Baptist Church. Our hearts go out to the family. Please accept our condolences.

Pastor Wilson was one of the kindest gentleman l know. In 1978 l realized he had the gift of Shepherding such a large flock @ Wortley Baptist Church. Our family of 6 were highly welcomed in that community…we well forever cherish the memories we ad with him & his dear wife Martha. From Lindax Burnett & family..R.I.P gentle soul@
I grew up (in Wortley Baptist Church) hearing Pastor Wilson clearly teach the Word of God. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized how much of a privilege it was to sit under such sound teaching of the truths of scripture. He was a real man or principle and heart, and had a very humble way about him, that could only command a quiet respect because he lived out what he taught. My sincere condolences to the family at this time.
Paul and Jeannie, please accept my condolences on the passing of your father. I have great memories of him from Worley and great memories of the two of you from Arthur Ford. Be strong at this time. You will be in my prayers this week. Hope to see you on the 29th.
On behalf of myself and family, we want to extend our sympathies to all of you. Paul & Yvonne, especially, my condolences. I just lost my dad and I have found great comfort and peace know that my and now your dad is in the presence of Glory, with a new body, and among passed family and friends. Blessings to you all. Gord
On behalf of the Fellowship Baptist family and National Council, I want to extend our sympathies to Paul, Jeannie and the entire Wilson family on the homegoing of Bob Wilson. I had the supreme joy of serving with Bob at Wortley Baptist Church, London in the early 90s and will always remember his gracious and generous spirit toward Marilyn and I. Until we meet again, Steven Jones , President, The Fellowship
Paul and Yvonne, we are sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. I didn’t know your dad well but I do remember going down to his place with you and meeting him. I recall his very gentle spirit as we spent time with him. Pray the Lord’s peace be with you both as well as your sister as you morn your loss, and rejoice that he is with Jesus.
It was a privilege to have had Bob Wilson as our pastor and friend! His Bible teaching was superb and he practiced what he taught! This quality was noticeable even when he played tennis and ping pong ( he played hard and exhibited excellent sportsmanship! )
What a beautiful well written tribute to a godly man who touched so many lives. I am one. Your parents both taught often from Ephesians and 1:18 -19 have helped me greatly in times of feeling powerless thanks to them.
In this time of great loss, Paul Yvonne and Jeannie, because of Jesus you will celebrate your dad’s promotion to Heaven with great joy! Hallelujah!
I will join you Monday online.
Joan

Dear Paul & Yvonne and Jeannie,
Another saint is safely home. What a privilege to grow up under his superb preaching, matched by a steady, gentle, consistent Christian life! Reunited with your dear mother.Remembering you now from Thailand as the service is about to begin.
with our love hugs and prayers. Brian and Linda Crawford
We have wonderful memories of Bob Wilson during our time at Wortley. He was a tremendous teacher who gave us a love for digging deeper into the Bible. His ability to make Scripture relevant was so important to us as University students and as young adults. We were fortunate to have him officiate our wedding.
I (Brent) remember many Sundays as a student watching football at his home. He even allowed a non Dallas fan room at the table:)
He was a man who not only taught well but lived a lifestyle that modelled love, grace and humility.
Dear Paul, Yvonne and Jeannie,
Your dad was my pastor for many years. Both of your parents often taught from Ephesians and 1:18-19 have indeed been an encouragement when feeling powerless.
In this time of great loss, how wonderful that you can celebrate with great joy your dad’s promotion to Heaven. I have a hunch that a good man, Allan Hutchinson, whom your dad committed to the ground 18 years ago will be there with many others, to welcome him Home.
I’ll be joining you by livestream this afternoon.
Joan Hutchinson
We are grateful to have been a part of Pastor and Martha Wilson’s first congregation at Dovercourt Road Baptist in Toronto. To have seen the family grow and to sit under his teaching was a blessing. We have followed with interest his ministry over the years and are grateful for every remembrance.
Our hearts go to Pastor Bobs family. He was a great Bible teacher and scholar influencing so many lives. We are keeping you all in our hearts.
