I met John at the Calvary Baptist church shortly after moving to Sioux Lookout 15 years ago and we went through the Masonic lodge together, from entered apprentice to becoming master masons., we also made many trips to Winnipeg together to participate in Shrine activities and become Shriners. John and I were also part of the 6 original members who reactivated the local Sioux Lookout Shrine Club and he was very active in all of our fund raising efforts for the Shrine Children’s hospital. I became a master mason within 2 years of my initiation while John took a bit longer. John was also a member of the Khartum Shrine’s Ritualistic Unit which has the deep responsibility of initiating all new Shriner’s through an annual ceremonial and shrine arch ceremony, he played the role of a fan bearer and stone mason like me and we were partners in both sections of the ritual. John was deeply respected by many, my friend, brother and fellow noble and I will deeply miss him and remember fondly all the good times we had.
Sending Love and Prayers for Debbie and her family. Sincere condolences on the loss of your dear brother John.

We are very sad to hear that John has passed away.
He was a popular and active member of RootsChat giving much thought and insight in his replies, known to us with his username of ‘JDC’. He was active on the site up to a week before he died. His last post was his attempt to find out about his grandparent’s mantel clock.
We hope now he is enjoying hearing all the answers as he meets his ancestors for himself.
He will be very sadly missed by us and we express our deepest condolences to his friends and family.
