Obituary
ROWE, Ruth Elizabeth Mary…
1933-2026
Peacefully, at University Hospital, London, Ontario, with family at her side on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, Ruth Rowe (nee Horner) went to be with her Lord and Saviour at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late William Gerald “Gerry” Rowe (1994). Loving mother of Scott Rowe (Mary Ann), Anne Wong (K-H), Mary Goral (Michael), Jane Greenwell (Garry), and Paul Rowe (Karissa). Cherished grandmother of Matthew Rowe (Nhu Y), Trevor Rowe (Natalie), Kristin Acton (Sam), Alissa Drappel (Matty), Caleb Rowe (An), Mark Wong (Emnet), Michelle Liu (Tony), Christina Goral, Kate, Abby and Jack Greenwell, Kai and Prairie Howard-Rowe. Beloved great-grandmother of 13 great-grandchildren and precious Aunt to her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Stanley and Mabel Horner, her brother and his wife Richard Horner (Marjorie), and her sister Janet Horner.
Ruth lived life to the fullest, devoted to her faith in Jesus, her family and her friends. Her inner beauty shone in her ready smile. Ruth was an active member of Wortley Baptist Church, later Hillside Church and most recently a member at Village Green Community Church. For many years she taught Sunday School classes and led after school Bible Clubs (Bible Centered Ministries, Key Bible Clubs). Ruth’s love for music led to singing in the Wortley Baptist Church Choirs and with London Singers, and to volunteering for Orchestra London. Hiking with the Thames Valley Trail Association and her membership in Nature London brought Ruth much joy in the outdoors. Vacationing and participating in the programs and retreats of Muskoka Bible Center, Huntsville, Ont. while enjoying the beauty of God’s creation were meaningful times for Ruth and her family. Ruth loved animals, especially her treasured companion and late dog Honey, who brought her many friends in the dog community near her home.
Ruth’s family would like to thank the special friends of Ruth’s life group and church (Village Green Community Church) who loved and supported her through the many challenges of living alone in her home with her dog Honey.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 1:00-4:00 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The Graveside Service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 11:00 am at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 303 Riverside Drive, London. Please meet at the cemetery office, off Riverside Drive, for 10:45 am. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at Village Green Community Church, 505 Village Green Avenue, London on Saturday, May 30, 2026 with the tribute service beginning at 11:00 am. A livestream of the service can be found on the Village Green Church YouTube Channel, or by visiting the church website.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches (FEBC), Muskoka Bible Foundation, Bible Centered Ministries (BCM International) or Key Bible Clubs (through Christian Service Centers).

We’re very sorry to see Ruth go. She was always smiling and so friendly. We met her at Village Green Church and enjoyed our chats.
Ruth is now with the Lord looking down on us.
Prayers for the family.
Sending love and best wishes to Ruth’s family and friends. Ruth was a kind and generous soul who had a radiant smile and caring spirit. Her strength and independent nature, love for her four legged friends and commitment to family and community was an inspiration. I am grateful to have know her.
Dear Scott , Anne , Mary , Jane and Paul
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom . She was a wonderful woman who enjoyed life, and I will always remember her infectious laugh . Our family enjoyed many great times with the Rowe clan, which I will always cherish.
Praying that you feel God’s presence as you pay tribute to her life and share special memories.
My regrets that I will not be able to attend the service for Ruth as I will be away.
Condolences

I remember Ruth as a vey quiet but enthusiastic hiker. She was always very pleasant and always smiling. It was a pleasure to have her participating in one of my hikes.
