Obituary
BROWN, Reverend Victor….
It is with great sadness that we announce that Victor died on Sunday June 1, 2025 in his 89th year. He was predeceased by three brothers, Lloyd, Vern, Cliff and his beloved wife, Edna. Victor will be greatly missed by his sons and their wives, David and Kathleen, Mark and Stephanie, Robert and Cindy, his six grandsons and their wives and partners, his five great grandchildren, his nieces and nephews and his many friends.
Victor started as a banker as a young adult and then with the support of his wife, Edna, he followed his true calling and went back to school to earn his bachelor’s and master’s degrees allowing him to become a United Church Minister. He and his family moved north where he was the minister at a three-point charge in Larder Lake, ON and then a two-point charge in Powassan. Later, he joined the ministry team at Colborne United Church in London. After retirement, Victor and Edna, started attending their neighborhood church, Riverside United. Since Vic was a very faith-filled man, being a minister was important, enriching, and rewarding for him. His greatest joy came from being a husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Times with family at celebrations, camping, biking, boating, hiking, and also relaxing at home were what he enjoyed greatly. His family and friends have many wonderful memories of time spent with Vic.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the A. Millard George Funeral Home, 60 Ridout Street South, London. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 11:00 am at Riverside United Church, 695 Riverside Drive, London. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to mccormickcarefoundation.ca McCormick Home staff members gave Vic excellent care in both the day program and as a permanent resident. David, Kathleen and family, we are very sorry for the passing of your father Victor Brown, we want to offer our deepest sympathies and please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Sincerely, Sylvie-Chantal & Stephen McGill
We knew Rev Victor from Riverside United. He was such a joy to speak with. He had such a wonderful manner- always interested in the lives of our family. His gentle manner, along with that of Edna ( who always liked a hug) made them favourites in our midst. It is hard for me to think of Victor as a Banker! Your parents have a place in my heart. My deepest sympathy
Dave, Mark and Rob and families. Our sincere condolences to you all.
My Uncle Vic was such a special person in my life, full of love and laughter, a joy to be around. He had a wonderful contagious laugh. He became the head of our Brown family, and I will miss him very much.
Love Shirley-Anne, Pam, Winston and Tim and families
Our sincerest condolences to all of Victors family. Victor provided wonderful ministry to many of our families and I am forever grateful to him for us being able to count on him and caring for our families at one of the hardest times in their lives.
May his memory be eternal +

Both of your parents were dear friends of my parents, sharing many happy evenings teaching your mom how to play cards and enjoying each other’s company over dinner and dessert (especially the dessert for the men!). My favourite memory was when we went over to their house near Christmas and decorated cookies that would later be delivered to the downtown food bank, giving its diners a little treat! Both of your parents always asked my girls about their cookies and marveled at their creativity! My girls (and I!) always loved the hugs and the loving attention that was always poured onto us whenever we went to visit! Your parents were amazing people – it’s no wonder heaven wanted them back!
To Victor’s Family –
Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of Victor. He was a very special person – a gentle man and a gentleman in every way. His pastoral caring was beyond reproach. As well as serving with him at Riverside, we worked together very closely in Presbytery and Conference over many years. So often he was my confidant. Of course, I remember your dear Mom as well. Do know my caring thoughts are with you.
Peace . . . Norma Clare
To Rev Brown’s family
My deepest condolences to all your family as your mourn the death of your dear father.
He was a gentle and kind human being to many.
My first meeting with Rev Brown was during marriage classes and our wedding day back at Colborne St United in the summer of 1989. He became our spiritual leader for our growing family of three boys in the 90’s and early 2000’s. His gentle ways always felt welcoming to our young family. He baptisted two of our three boys.
After his retirement, we missed his presence at Colborne.
My parents went back and forth with your folks from the early 90’s and his brother Rev Lloyd and Shirley Brown going back to the late 60’s and 70’s.
Rev. Victor and Edna were pillars in the community and will remain in our hearts.
Our deepest sympathy
The Frank and Uttley families
We are sad to hear of Victor’s passing. He was a neighbour of ours on Green Lane for several years. Victor and Edna were always to welcoming and loving towards us. We had the pleasure of also seeing them at Riverside United Church on Sundays. We enjoyed conversations on the sidewalk, warm hugs, and lots of laughter. We are so sorry to not be able to make the visitation or the funeral, but we will be there in spirit. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time.
Much love from The Young Family (Becky, Scott, Olivia and Torsten)
