Words cannot describe how sorry I am for your loss. I can’t imagine your pain and grief at this time.
I’m sure you made your mother so proud. I’m sorry her light is gone from your life.
Thinking of the family at this time.
Our deepest condolences for your loss Stephen,
We were honoured to have met your mother at your wedding and it sounds like she lived such a full and incredible life, helping so many people around her. May her memory live on in the lives of all the people she touched with her kindness. Sending much love to you, Maryan, Lily and Darwin.
Sincerely, Nicole, Mark, Myles and Ellington Rajakovic
Shirley was a delight and always a thoughtful individual looking at the world through compassionate eyes. I knew Shirley as a member of St. Anne’s where she served in various ministries. We chatted many times about the historical research she had done and what a challenge it was to try and tell the whole story. The difficulties of piecing together the story never deterred her from continuing the work. I was pleased to be able to publish what she had written on our church website – https://stannesbyron.ca/stone-by-stone – so that others could appreciate all the effort she had put into this project. She has been missed in our community since her health began to fail.
Shirley has been in my prayers and will continue to be so. I am grateful for knowing her. While letting go of Shirley’s physical presence is difficult, I pray that the family and all who knew her will be comforted by her conviction in the truth of her faith.
Shirley and my mother, Dorothy McClelland, worked together for many years at the London Free Press and formed a friendship that lasted throughout their lives. Shirley was always smiling in my memories, her eyes sparkling, her full laugh at the ready. She had a huge heart and was always willing to help friend or stranger in any way she could. She was a beautiful lady, a wonderful friend, and a blessing to anyone who had the fortune to meet her. I am so sorry she has left us. Heaven will shine a little brighter now as tears fall on earth, but we will all see her again one day. My prayers and love to her children and family as they grieve their mom and sister.
I had the pleasure of working with Shirley at the London Free Press and meeting her on occasion through Anglican church circles. Shirley was a delight to work with at the paper — always curious, always sensitive. And she appeared to bring the same qualities to St. Anne’s. Shirley and Peter were a wonderful match.
